I am a plain woman who can count the days I have worn makeup: in my sisters' weddings, when I performed, and a party with a 70s theme to which I wore eye-shadow that made my lids look like shrimp gone bad. I wash my face with something that keeps the acne & oil at bay, and that's all I care about.

My hair? Keep it short, and cut so that I can towel dry it and comb it and not look like shit. That's all I care about. Away from work, I wear a baseball cap most of the time anyway. My security blanket.

And from a job search engine where I stressed my English major, my 20+ years of clerical, admin, secretarial experience, looking for an exec. admin. or like position, the only thing I get after four months is

Every once in a while I like to watch a TV "makeover" show. More than half the time the woman's new look is more of a train wreck than her old look. If there's one thing the "beauty experts" can't stand is a woman comfortable with the face she has.
