Lot of us jabbering here on DU.
Hubby, Daughter and I are celebrating quietly by ourselves.

Three years ago, the relatives moved back to the midwest and became hardright Southern Baptists.

The neighbors are either gone or busy with relatives.

I'm enjoying my quiet, but, from time to time, it feels weird.

Aren't you DUers busy with relatives?

I'm on California time, so it is only 4:06 PM.

5. A toast to us!
By the way, I'm studying to pass the California Bar Exam - again. I'll take it until I pass - even if it takes 48 times!

Eh ... just that and hanging with Hubby and Daughter and gabbing on DU!

39. UPDATE: 6:45 PM. We're here with two grandkids, watching
"The Hunchback of Notre Dame".

Earlier, we had brunch with their parents -- my daughter and her husband -- we all live in the same town. We'll be going to visit my son, flying out next week for a New Year's weekend with them.

4. I'm home from the family thing
Dad had to go to work, little sister was spending the evening with her boyfriend's family.

I have to log off in a minute, LeftyKid has covered the floor of the living room in toys, I need to go clear a path to the kitchen and start dinner.

6. We East Coasters are weary and sated, having only the strength left
for a post or two.

The kids are busy playing with their goodies, I'm bogged down with Rotisserie Prime Rib, and Mrs R is watching the football game.

And you know the tail-end of Christmas is always a bit, um, boring.

Very small - about 30 people. But those who were there, needed to be there. (People carry a lot of pain with them - and they let it out, in their own way, today.)

We didn't have many attending either - maybe 40. Too bad - they missed a really good talk by Rev. Penny.

I went by myself; Hubby and Daughter were busy flying the new kite.

I am about an hour north of San Diego, inland, on the 15. We go down to the San Diego Zoo at least once a month; the San Diego Wild Animal Park is about 30 minutes away (15 of it down the 15 freeway). I'm just north of Rainbow.

my family, except for me, got together for Cursegiving, just a few months after we got together for my mom's birthday. My siblings all went to their in-laws. I tried to call my parents, but got no answer. I do not know where they are. Everyone's coming down here for amateur night. (new year's eve)

33. same setup here, my husband and daughter and me
w moved out of Massachusetts 8 years ago with a 3 year stop over in Texas and we have no family here. My friend invited us to go up to Tahoe with him but i declined, i really wanted to stay home this year and i'm so glad we did. We got up, opened stuff and then ate breakfast and then everyone checked out their new stuff and then i made Christmas dinner, after that we watched "Elf" and now my husband is playing World series of poker on play-station, daughter is reading her new copy of "Harry Potter and the half blood prince" and i'm sitting here debating on if i should get on the treadmill for an hour to try and undo some of what i've eaten today.

35. Nope
All the relatives are at least 1000 miles away. It does feel strange. I used to cook dinner for 20, now I cook for 3. Opening presents used to take hours, now it's over in a half hour or so. I did get to talk to my mom and sister today. They are getting together with the extended family out west. We finished our Christmas dinner at 7. By 7:30 was off to a friend's to watch a movie and play video games. Hubby crashed at 8 and here I am watching tv and posting on DU. Not exactly the Norman Rockwell version of Christmas is it?

36. I pretty much spend Christmas alone.
I visit with friends on Christmas Eve, but I love the solitude on Christmas Day. I went for a hike in the mountains with my sweet little doggie companion and it was way too warm for this time of year in eastern Oregon.

I do get invitations but I always come up with some excuse not to go. It's so rare to have a day all to myself.
