What is your favorite cop/private eye show?
I'm partial to "Rockford Files" and "Columbo"--the old "Columbo" from the 70's not the updated tv movies.

1. Monk.
Law and Order - with Jerry Orbach. The show hasn't been the same since his death.
I've also loved Columbo.

4. Monk. By far.
I don't get to see it too often, since I'm usually out paintin' the town red on Friday nights, but I try to catch it whenever I happen to be home. Great stuff.

5. NYPD Blue
I used to love that show. They blew it when Rick Schroeder left, but Mark-Paul was a good replacement.

10. BEST Cop Show EVER!
Great cast, acting, scripts and storylines. I loved how they exposed the fears, demons and dark sides of the characters. I cried when that one went off the air.

The finale movie was ok but ended rather darkly and left much open about Bayless and his possible involvement in the killing of an aquitted suspect. The ending of that one was great though. "G" dies and ends up in a supernatural squad room with two of the other cops who died during the series. When G questions the Italian dude he says "Where do ya think this is? Heaven?" That was awesome.

11. Yes! Utterly brilliant.
British TV's just started repeating it and although I've often raved about it, I forgot just how excellent it was. I hoping they'll go all the way through and show the TV movie which never aired here. (In fact the entire final season was dropped, but I was lucky enough to catch it in Canada.)

13. the standard
The book the series was based on is a great book. Only time I called and email a network over canceling a show.

17. Another vote for Homicide.
One of the few shows that I even watched. Now I'm trying to get them on DVD...

My favorite is still the funeral for Crosetti after his suicide and my fluff favorite is the Blue Moon Motel episode.

12. It's a tie between 24 and Monk
24 being on the more serious side and Monk being on the ligher side.

14. The Wire
The Wire by far is the best police show ever written. It is about a misfit bunch of cops in Baltimore who are assembled to bring down a murderous drug gang, and then to stop white slavetraders. The first two seasons are on DVD. One cop wrote that it is the only TV show that he thought accurately portrayed cops.

I liked the earlier ones best where Rock had a mustache and longish hair.
