You know what would really piss the Republicans off?
If we had a web site with a graphic talking about lies similar to the ones they used. It would have to be an animated picture with small, short, simple talking points that eventually started talking about lies, only instead of Clinton below the word LIES, put BUSH. I do believe that would really piss the sheep off.

It would serve a second purpose though. Those in the middle would stop and think.

1. But is pissing them off really what we want to do?
Pissed-off people tend to retaliate, which would mean even more lies, etc.

I think we should make the Pubs afraid of us.

Or, more afraid.

2. If we piss them off in the right way, we CAN make them very very

afraid of us. They know that all we really need to defeat them is another very charismatic, smart dem who will stand up to them. If we can find one of those that would be great, but until then all we can do is try to beat them at their own game. And that game is psychological warfare and subliminal messages. Everybody's fighting for the middle because they really decide things. It seems logical to try pissing off the right and at the same time waking up the middle. It's just an idea. I may or may not work. The idea itself would need lots more work to ever succeed.

3. I dunno
I still hang on to the early Jack Stanton idealism from "Primary Colors" — when Libby Holden reminded Stanton of how in his first campaign, for McGovern, he said, "If it's clean, we win — because our ideas are better."

I want it to be like that. I really do. But it isn't.

So, you're right — and I have to remind myself of what I kept saying in 2004: We have to get as nasty as they are. Nastier.

When they invented Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, the Dems should've countered with — no, the Dems should've already had in place Texas Air National Guard for Truth, and not pulled the plug when "60 Minutes" stepped on its cock. Hell, a properly organized group of plumbers would've prevented that whole mess.

Okay, I'm gettin' riled now. And that ain't good at 2:17 a.m.

4. You make some really good points about '04.
We will need to form a grassroots group of politicians from the underground and send them up through the ranks to show them how they need to do things. It's sad that they seem like they don't know what they are doing. I'd like to see James Carville start grooming somebody again. He knows what he is doing.

5. Oh, yeah
He's the Dems' answer to Rove, I think. The boy plays hardball. But, unlike the Rovian lizard creature, he also has some charisma.

I just got so pissed off when Kerry's people — or the DNC, whoever was driving that train wreck — just freakin' played rope-a-dope with the asshats. I doubt there's been a more poorly run campaign since... well, I don't know when.
