Queen's fury as Bush goons wreck garden
THE Queen is furious with President George W. Bush after his state visit caused thousands of pounds of damage to her gardens at Buckingham Palace.

Royal officials are now in touch with the Queen's insurers and Prime Minister Tony Blair to find out who will pick up the massive repair bill. Palace staff said they had never seen the Queen so angry as when she saw how her perfectly-mantained lawns had been churned up after being turned into helipads with three giant H landing markings for the Bush visit.

The rotors of the President's Marine Force One helicopter and two support Black Hawks damaged trees and shrubs that had survived since Queen Victoria's reign.

And Bush's army of clod-hopping security service men trampled more precious and exotic plants.

this story was probably leaked to deflect some from the Prince scandals. Also, I think the queen was peeved at shrub and his dumpy wife in general

evil fuck that man is, and how he has no regard for anyone or anything that he doesn't personally own.

It just doesn't dawn on him that someone else might like their lawn or garden and not want it trampled.

It just doesn't dawn on him that someone might like their own country, and not want it trampled.

He personifies, in giant spades, the Ugly American. This is so typical of Bush on so many levels: Rude, obnoxious, uncouth, inconsiderate, arrogant, oblivious, ugly, and... :grr: I am out of adjectives. Supply your own!

I have no use for the royals myself, but protocol is fucking protocol!!! Have some DIGNITY when visiting a head of state on her own turf, will ya?

6. WHAT ABOUT THE HUNDRED-YEAR-OLD AFRICAN TREES THAT WERE CUT
that were cut down for Bush's visit to that continent? How come nobody has complained about that?

Well, the Queen has enough resources to cover the damage. But African trees belong to undeveloped poor countries, so pay no mind to that...

8. Without helicopter's Bush has a hard time finding "friendly crowds"
Indeed - even in The USA, INC. he has been landing at airports and helipads with selected supporters - only - were allowed to be on camera with him as he delivered a speech to them - and then flew out.

As long as the media makes a point of never noting his avoidance of crowds or folks that do not agree with him - indeed to the point of making demonstrations against him use "free speech zones" that are out of his line of sight, as if being seen by Bush was the "victory" desired by the demonstrators, the "popular" president story line will continue.

Not that I any longer expect truth, analysis, or thoughts without right wing spin from our media - I am just happy knowing the our media is not right wing GOP controlled, they only act that way.

10. Buckingham Palace is not just the Queen's home
It is part of England's history in the same way the white house is part of ours and not just the place where the president stays. note:"The historic fabric of the Palace was also damaged as high-tech links were fitted for the US leader and his entourage during his three-day stay with the Queen. . . The lawns are used for royal garden parties and are beautifully kept. But 30,000 visitors did not do as much damage as the Americans did in three days.
Their security people and support staff tramped all over the place and left an absolute mess."

Bush and his types have absolutely no sense of history. They are Vandals and are no better than the Taliban who happily blew away the Buddhist statues in Afghanistan.

22. tee hee
I hope she is successful in her suit for damages.

I heard they destroyed hundreds of trees in Whistleass's visit to Africa, which meant literally destroying people's livelihoods.

If the Whistleass is so hated that trees must be destroyed to make a path for his huge security entourage, he should not be allowed out of the house. Ancient trees should not be killed so he can posture.

If the Queen can bring attention to this issue, even for selfish reasons, cool.

48. It's not just *her* garden.... This is analogous to Gerhard Schroeder
driving a Unimog through the White House Rose Garden and landing a Harrier on the National Mall.

Buckingham Palace is a National Historic site, and while the Royal Family also lives there, it is as important to British History as Montecello or Mount Vernon are to American History.

Yes, people are important, but... without sounding callous, we can make more people. Once a piece of history is gone, it is gone forever and cannot be replaced.

We would be angry if She, or Tony Blair had decided to drive a Land Cruiser over the South Lawn of the White House.... She's got a right to be torqued about * destroying her homeland and historic site.

I'm embarrassed to be led by this man. It's not like Emily Post is that hard to locate and pick up.....

shithead does? It's time he and his family's billions paid for these tresspasses and the whole war mess in Iraq. Why do we have to pick up the tab? I wish there were some good lawyers and loyal Americans who would start some class action civil suits for the American people to make them pay for their crimes at least with their money if we can't get them for war crimes.
