Time for Daunte Culpepper to go...
Along with the other four Vikings charged...

If Zygi ever wants this team to get its reputation as a class organization back he ought to drop these four right now!!!

2. They could be...
I am pretty impressed with Zygi so far...certainly a big improvement over Red McCombs!!!

He could really put this franchise back on the road to respectibility by doing the right thing here and either release or trade these players!

3. Devil's advocacy
The charges are only misdemeanors and none involve any coercive behavior, violence or hard drugs. Players who have been charged with far more egregious activities >cough, Michael Irvin< and remained with their teams. What they should be charged with is gross stupidity, but stupidity is, sadly, not a criminal offense.

And four players were charged, not five: Smoot, Culpepper, McKinnie and Moe Williams.

4. but can't an employer expect more than simply
not committing felonies?????

Mine does. And I don't have a problem with it.

I think the public nature of this behavior should be grounds enough for some discipline. After all, they are role models, whether they like it or not.

6. They should absolutely be disciplined by the team
Sitting for five or six games would be appropriate punishment, though I don't know if the union contract would allow them to be suspended without pay. Still, having their asses planted on the bench for a third of a season would probably get the message through their heads. The message is simple enough: DON'T ACT STUPID.

I am particularly disappointed in Culpepper - he had a reputation as a pretty solid citizen before this, and I thought he was a lot smarter.

7. I agree re Culpepper
I live in Central Fl and watched him as a great college player. I thought he was better than that.

I say release them from the Vikings...

I actually have more sympathy for people with potential drug problems...and believe they should first get counseling and treatment...

This was just stupid, selfish behavior...and the Vikings, particularly with their reputation as bad as it is, do not need to have these guys around. It would send a signal that they weren't gonna put up with this crap anymore...

Sorry for the typo...I meant three others...there four total which is what I had in my head as I was typing

8. Time for Daunte to go because he's a terrible quarterback
his panic attacks at the line of scrimmage were getting REALLY old; it's such a relief to be able to watch Brad perform.

I agree they should be punished for stupidity--don't they, with their salaries, have their own boats so they don't have to hire one?

11. What's the big deal?
The only problem I have here is that they subjected a bunch of employees of the boat compnay to their wicked ways.

One of the above posters had it right -- buy your own boat. After that, what you do in the privacy of your own bedroom -- or in this case, your own cabin -- is none of my business.
