DAMMIT I hate this commercial!
Edited on Wed Dec-14-05 01:31 PM by fudge stripe cookays
The Windex one with the birds that trick the homeowner into checking the front door, then get him locked out?

Fargo loses it when the doorbell rings normally. He can't differentiate between a real doorbell and a TV doorbell. Barking barking barking.

The multiple doorbells in this commercial make him go MENTAL! It takes me a good five minutes after the commerical is over to get him calmed down again.

ARGH! And don't get me started on the freaking Domino's commercials.

The culprit -->

Anyone else's pets have commercials that make them crazy?

1. Just any that might have a lot of dog barking.
But she doesn't seem to get too wound up though.

3. Found out
that my cat loves Dr. Phil. He watched the entire Letterman interview the otherday. Upside down, mind you. I love that cat.

Speaking of unrestrained, pure, dripping hate for commercials: children. With lisps. "Buy-Me" eyes. i.e. the Ovaltine commercial (more Ovaltine please!). The Welch's Grape Juice girl (Makes your lips go *smack*). Rawr!

4. Funny cat, that.
I usually am not a kid person, but I think the little Welch's girl is cute.

5. My sheltie had the same issues as Fargo
He would bark like crazy when he heard a doorbell, real or on tv. It took forever to get him calmed down!

12. I wish I could
He passed away two years ago. He didn't quite make it to 13. We miss him terribly. He was a very, very special friend.

16. Aw I'm so sorry.
I'm not looking forward to the day we lose Fargo.

Pyrs aren't exceptionally long-lived dogs, and because he's big and big dogs have more probs with hip displasia and such, he probably won't be healthy towards the end. But I'll be hopeful.

He's my best friend, always willing to put his head in my lap and gaze up with that "I love mommy more than anyone in the whole world" look.

There's nothing like a dog. Nothing!

6. Our wiener dog loves any shows or commercials with dogs
barking, birds singing or just about any animal making noises. She will look up and tilt her head from side to side, it looks like she's trying to understand what they're saying. It's so cute when she does it. Sorry don't know how to give you a picture.

9. Wiener dogs are just funny anyway,
with their silly little lopsided wal, and their floppy ears, and their cute little pointy noses. But I bet that is hilarious.

Loves me some weiners.

13. That's great, but...
I usually have it on as background noise, so I don't always pay attention.

If it was at the end of the commercial, I'd have plenty of time to get ready for it and hit mute, but it's at the very BEGINNING of the freaking commercial, and I can never do it fast enough.

17. Mute the commercials altogether?
I know I often do. it really annoys me that tv stations (and radio stations for that matter) crank up the volume when the commercials come on.

Edited on Wed Dec-14-05 02:46 PM by cfield
about dogs barking on TV. But only if it's a lot; just a couple woofs won't get his attention, but if there are a bunch of dogs, or one barking more than a few times, he jumps up like he's going to go look for it. Of course he's used to hearing the neighbors' dogs all the time; they're incessant which is annoying because we don't let ours bark at nothing for no reason.

15. Our cocker mix dogs went nuts for a nature show about Scotland
that featured woodcocks. They heard the noise of their natural prey and started looking around. It was quite funny.

18. Yogi, my cat, likes some commercials.
He seems especially interested in the King Kong commercials. He watches Jack Hanna. If one of those 976 number commercials come on with those women talking all seductive like, he gets this dreamy look. If I ever find the phone bill extremely high one month, I'll know who did it. Lol.

Sunday Girl, my older cat, likes Kung Fu movies and any other really brutal fighting scenes.

Domino doesn't care.

20. I just hope he doesn't learn to use the phone.
He doesn't get along with my older cat, Sunday Girl, so maybe she won't teach him how to dial out. She once called California. I don't know how she did it. We found her loving on the phone and picked it up thinking maybe someone had called while we were out. There was this nice lady from California on the other end of the line. She said the phone rang and when she answered, she heard a meow and then some purring, so she talked to Sunday Girl for a few minutes. I'm glad it wasn't any longer. That long distance would have been something else. LOL. My cats have all done some weird stuff at one time or another.

When I was little, we had 4 toy poodles who barked at knocking on door sounds and doorbells, so I can sympathize with you on your plight. They never did learn the difference either. We had one dog that would bark at foorsteps like he was defending us from the movie. And I once had a dog that would grumble and growl when he heard country music. He hated country music. He never seemed to mind any other kind, just hated country music.

What are we going to do with our critters?
