Man Arrested After Police Find Live Deer In Trunk Of Car
<snip>

HAYDEN, Idaho -- The prancing and pawing of each little hoof came from the trunk, not the roof.

That's what police in northern Idaho heard when they were helping a man try to get his car unstuck from a ditch early Sunday morning.

When a Kootenai County Sheriff's deputy opened the trunk, he found a live and still-kicking doe that had been hit by the car.

The driver told deputies he had put the deer in the trunk and planned to release it in another location.

The severely injured deer was shot by the deputy and driver was arrested on charges of drunken driving.

1. I am glad they put it out of its misery.

A lot of people pick up the deer they hit with their vehicles. Granted, they usually only do if the deer is dead. This makes me think of Tommy Boy for some reason :P. That was cruel to the deer. It would have been better off running away to die.

8. Wisconsin.
If you hit and kill a deer and nobody else wants it, you get to keep it if you want. If you don't want it, the next person who comes along can take it.
That might not be exactly right, but it's in our motorists handbook. I'll go look it up and get the exact wording for you.

11. And here it is:
From page 58:

If you hit a deer, you are entitled to keep it. If you do not want the deer, the next motorist on the scene is entitled to the deer. In either case, before the deer can be taken, law enforcement will need to issue a tag for the deer. Contact the Sheriff's Office or local police Department to obtain a tag.

12. TY, was curious how they handled that.
You can't do that here. Whats amazing around here, is how many times you see one on the side of the road, that someone has removed the horns.

13. Oh man! That just sounds disgusting.
Though I'm not sure why I find that more gross than an animal on the side of the road with horns.

10. Missouri and Illinois
but in both states you must notify law enforcement that you have hit a deer.

2. Gross.
I was driving past a flat bed tow truck on the highway this morning when I realized that he had at least 5 dead deer on the back.

Disgusting. I feel like they should cover them up or something.

he had a dead deer under his waterbed. He was "having relations" with it. It was dead....and had been for a while. True (fairly recent) story.
