1. *hands Fishwax a tissue*

It has me sad, too. I've been remembering him. I even remember the first time I heard of him. I was working at a store in Birmingham, Ala., and a coworker came by with a new album he'd just bought. I asked him what he got, and he asked for a pen and paper. He handed it back to me, and I read "That Nigger's Crazy." HUH? He said, "It's Richard Pryor's new album!" OH! He urged me to check it out, and I did, and I've been a huge fan ever since. For years, my No. 1 favorite movie of all time was Silver Streak. I need to watch that soon, in his memory.

3. back at ya

I saw silver streak for the first time a couple of years ago, laughed in spite of myself :)

he and gene wilder definitely had a chemistry ...

dayum ... funny guy, able to laugh at himself, including the most miserable and painful parts of his own life ...

i've heard many relative conservatives lament how a movie like blazing saddles couldn't be made today (political correctness, doncha know :eyes:) ... but that just goes to show how far ahead of his time he was and how much things have changed since/because of his peak years ...

2. He had a lot of suffering in the last years of his life,
and for that reason, I'm not so sad that Mr. Pryor has passed. His suffering has ended.

 to you, fishwax. I loved Richard Prayor, too. :pals:

4. yeah, that's true
last time i saw him at on tv he was quite obviously on the ropes ... such is life, i guess ... he had a lot of pain for the last 25 years (and, god knows, longer than that) but managed to wring humor out of his own pain/mistakes/sorrow ... if that's not grace, i don't know what is :cry::pals:

5. I talked to Jennifer Pryor early this morning.
He passed peacefully and with a smile on his face. He has finally found the peace and freedom he was always searching for.

I am receiving thousands of emails an hour from their website. I am saving them all to my hard drive so that the mailbox won't fill up. In fact there were so many hits on the website right after I posted the press release, that we had to take the message board down so that we could keep the website up.

We all lost a great human today. His words, however, will live on and are timeless.

If you want to send a message to the Pryor family, you can email it to: [email protected]

14. Here is a recent picture of him that I use for my desktop.
He is laughing at a joke that Bob Sagget told him. Sagget can be very "blue"

11. Thank you, Trudy.
What an honor it must be to administer that site! I was one of the ones adding to the traffic. }(

I heard Jennifer Pryor make her statement to CNN, and her voice breaking just tore me up. Is she the one he called Hitler about his smoking? :)

I'm glad he's out of his pain, but his voice, his truth with humor, will be sorely missed.

13. Yeah... Jennifer was always riding his ass for that smoking.
When Richard needed to clean up his act and have his business taken care of, he knew that Jennifer was the one to do it. And she is one tough lady.

6. Thanking about the happy times, back in the 70's, listening to his....
...LP's in my bedroom, on my shitty stereo, were some of the best times I've had. That's how he ought to be remembered. That was fun.

9. Once in an interview with Jane Pauley (spelling)
He said that when he was gone from this planet, he hoped everyone would talk shit about him. Like, make up stories and tell each other.

I am still so sad by all this that I can't sleep. I just keep reading the emails that are coming in. Now getting them from Europe. It's like when John Lennon died, we thought that music would never be the same. Now, even though he hasn't performed for years, comedy will never be the same.

10. I know you are on the front lines of this Trudy.....
...it must be gut-wrenching. The clouds will pass. He's not gone, because his art lives on forever. How many of us can say the same about ourselves? He's found his immortality...

12. You know it. His words are timeless.
I just finished putting up the webpage for donations to his non-profit. It has been in the works for weeks, but no webpage yet. So we put something up just so people could donate instead of flowers. He was committed to rescuing animals, he was always fighting for the underdog.

Thank you for the kind thoughts. I will pass them along to his family.

Trudy
