I always leave it too long. I went to one of the malls today - utterly crazy. It doesn't help that many people are going just to escape the heat - makes finding a parking space a pain in the ass.

Especially this time of year. They are always packed full. We haven't decorated yet, actually. I'm not sure we're going to either. All of our decorations are in a storage facility.

12. Good morning Clint!

I'm at work as usual. Had an experience on the highway coming in that gave me the willies though. I was coming off the ramp from one highway to the other, and hit a patch of black ice. I began skidding and tried to correct it only to skid in the opposite direction, and then I began fisthtailing back and forth. Finally the car was so out of control there was nothing to do except go along for the ride (fortunately it was heading off the road instead of into traffic). I finally skidded to a halt facing sideways, half on the shoulder and half on the snow-covered grass--the driver's door a mere two feet from the beginning of a guard rail. I put the car in Park for a minute or so to catch my breath before getting back on the road to get to work :scared:. Then about two miles down I see one of those text-signs that reads, "Icy conditions may exist, use caution". I'm like "No &*%#" !

Though for an hour or so I was wishing I could have a drink. If I'd been heading home instead of to work I would have had one the moment I walked in the door. Instead I had some herbal tea--not nearly as good but the best substitute I could come up with under the circumstances.

This was 9:40 at night, and the storm ended some 12 or so hours earlier. Any salt they put down before could have worn off by then. The ice might have been from meltdown of the snow from the storm during the day, and of course they wouldn't have thought to salt for that.
