Reminds me of Phu Bai, in a bad, drunken way. I got sick on Mateus listening to Carpenter sides at the club. I slept through a big NVA 122-mm Katyusha (USSR) rocket attack that night.

On edit: Actually, I was better off passed out in the hooch. A bud, running like a madman for the bunker, got wounded by shrapnel from a close-by rocket. That 122 impacted less than 75 yards from where I was "sleeping," and I did not hear a thing! My stomach, the next morning, said: "Oh, vile Mateus!" My aching head said: "Thank you Jebus for the vile Portugese vintage!"


The Quonsett huts where I slept through the attack.
