1. "M is for Monsters" on Sesame Street
kids are up, they have total control of background noise right now.

After Sesame Street, Dan Zanes goes on!

11. Thanks!
They are still very young - the oldest is 3 they younger two are 17 months. They pretty much go along with anything right now. I'm trying to get him into Pete Seeger too, he likes Abiyoyo so far.

I think Dan Zanes is their favorite at the moment. We got his DVD and my older son asks to watch it all the time. I keep emailing his website begging him to come to Portland, but he hasn't made up here yet :-(

We are going to Sesame Street in a week and a half. My son is psyched about that! They younger two don't really "get" that we are going yet.

Greater Portland area.

94.9 WHOM plays "holiday" (read: x-mas) music 24/7 until Christmas. Well, ALMOST 24/7.... they play Dave Koz's smooth jazz syndicated program for two hours every Sunday morning. (Which I listen to--yes, I'm a sucker for schmaltz. My guilty pleasure. :P)

I'm a little north of you - Wiscasset area. We go to Portland for some shopping and I go down for one of my doctors. We moved up three days after Christmas last year, right around that time when it was
-20 degrees! Crap that was cold! I guess we are getting snow tomorrow! I love the snow - fun for my kids :-)

Thanks for the "holiday" music info, I like to listen to it sometimes.

Yes--I can't wait for the snow! I really can't get into the whole x-mas groove until there is snow on the ground.

27. Hello, I can soooo relate!
Spongebob Squarepants rules. I actually love that show. Very funny stuff.

and I know the song of which you mention, too. My 12 yr old son actually bought, with his own money no less, the movie soundtrack on CD.

Sadly, I know most of the words on those songs by heart.

23. My Five year old has a play theatre set
Both Kids read very well and the wife was an actress. So, since it's cold out, they're playing Romeo and Juliet.

I wanted them to do Macbeth, but the Wife nixed that.

...the thought of your daughter doing Lady Macbeth was probably reason enough. :)

Out, damned spot! out, I say! One: two: why, then, 'tis time to do't. Hell is murky! Fie, my lord, fie! a soldier, and afeard? What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our power to account? Yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him.

24. I am listening to some stupid rap song as my son and his
sleepover buddy play a Gamecube game on the TV right next to my computer. The game they're playing is called "Need for Speed: Undeground II".

Aren't you thrilled? :eyes: Whatever.

Overlapping the rap is a "Spongebob Squarepants" episode being watched by my daughter and her two sleepover girlfriends, out in the living room.

Yes friends, my house has been taken over by children.

31. My old dear friend Leroy Pierson who has a huge collection of
old-tyme cajun 78's says that the instrument tuner was the death of cajun music. I rather agree with him... it makes it too... polished and cold... like Steeley Dan.

33. I'd have to take issue with that. I've heard some of the old time Cajuns
Edited on Sat Dec-03-05 11:18 AM by mcscajun
and they're just fine, but everything changes. Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys do Cajun music justice and then some, extending the tradition. Without change, some things just die...or fade away.

Check out the earliest work of Steve Riley and David Greeley, you'll hear that they learned well from the Balfa Brothers. :) And they keep taking Cajun music to the next level, CD after CD. Their live performances are nothing short of electrifying...as the dancers at them will attest to, every one.

And Bruce Daigrepont? Nothing much sweeter than his accordion playing. Lucky me, I'm going to a dance in Sugar Loaf, NY tonight where he'll be performing. Yee-HA!
