...For them? Naked States with Spencer Tunick is on HBO right now, I think his work is so interesting. I'm always kind of amazed that so many people turn him down--then again, maybe they don't want to be arrested for public nudity or something...

Anyway, if you were approached to be a nude model for an artist, phototographer, painter, etc. would you do it? Why or why not?

1. No.
Not that they ever would ask.

Diane Arbus, maybe.

so cool to see that some here would contribute their bodies to the cause of art!

4. No.
It would be, in my case, a work of nightmare art.

I could probably make it on a freakshow calender, though....

23. Stop that--
don't put yourself and your body down like that.

You should see some of the people this guy has placed in his works--all body types, shapes, sizes, colors and ages. I think many of his pieces are beautiful.

You don't know that to be a fact. It's the world's loss that no one gets to see you in a beautiful painting.

Edited to answer your question: Why or why not?

This was a local artist who prefers to paint/sketch nudes. I saw his work first, and was impressed with his interpretations of the human form. He was respectful, and so is his art, so for me it was no big deal.

Oh, and no money was exchanged. That would have been too weird for me. He just let me pick a sketch to keep, and framed it.

25. She wasn't comfortable doing nudes for the longest
but after doing birth photography for a few friends of ours, she says she's just about lost her ability to be embarassed.

I think it'll be easier for her to get her feet wet with somebody she knows, we've been friends since we were little kids so she's seen me undressed a zillion times while changing clothes to go to parties, after swimming, etc.

Given that you've been friends so long. I'd love to do birth photography. Some of the works I've seen by people have been quite moving and beautiful.

22. I don't know. I would have to be very familiar with their work
and the artist personally to make sure it isn't a scam (which I don't have the time for now).

even then I'm not sure I would do it it would take a lot of convincing that I am truly worthy of that kind of thing. It would be incredibly bizarre to walk into a museum and find people gathering around a nude portrait of me, as a tour guide is saying "you will notice the brush work around her breasts is...."

on the other hand it isn't as though I'm posing for playboy, this is art and it would be a feather in my cap to know that I am someone whom an artist found beautiful

I've taken figure drawing courses. All the models use different techniques to keep themself focused and from dropping off to sleep. LOL!

30. The people of Melbourne came out in big numbers
to assist this guy in his art (on the HBO documentary, Naked States featuring the work of Spencer Tunick). Some were moved to tears, they were so emotionally impacted by the experience--

This is really interesting...

But I'd want about 6 months to try and get some more of this awful fat off my belly!

But I would do it, yes.....

As long as I knew and trusted the artist...

I got to listen in on a variety of art instruction. I got paid for doing it. I could hold difficult poses for long periods of time. Having practiced yoga, I was good at it.

38. Yes, it was! I love the HBO documentaries--
but this was in particular. I really like his pictures. It was interesting that some asked the question, "Well, couldn't anyone take this kind of picture--what makes this so special?" I think his eye and his choices of who is in what background and why says a lot.

I don't get the sense he is just some guy exploiting nudity for the sake of nudity--if that makes sense.
