I think his real name was Pat Morita.

They said on the radio that he got an oscar nomination for Karate Kid... did he?

3. Yes he was but he lost out to another Asian for Best Supporting Actor
Haing S. Ngor of Cambodia won for his portrayal of Dith Pran in the wonderingly haunting movie "The Killing Fields". Of course Pat Morita was actually Asian-American of Japanese Heritage. MrsGrumpy would be pleased to know he was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

5. He was the original Arnold
But he left the show like after the first or second year and they brought the other guy in as the new owner of "Arnolds" but that guy went by the name Al

8. His actual first name was Noriyuki
"Pat" was his Americanized nickname.

He spent time locked up in the Japanese Internment camps during WWII, IIRC.
