the one thing that never fails to freak out your cat....
no surprise here: the vacuum cleaner. No matter how many times they hear it, they still leap immediately onto the ceiling.

1. Vacuum cleaner definately,
but have you noticed that a can opener has the totally opposite effect?

7. That's a powershot
Drives a nail into concrete with a shot of gunpowder - generally .22 caliber, I believe. Much fun to use, makes a rather loud noise. Like a small caliber rifle discharging.

17. This guy did, too.
Leonard (RIP) would roll over on his back so I could vacuum his belly. I never could figure that out.

8. Two things
Any small change in the furniture arrangement will send Oops into a complete panic attack. He's sure we've moved him to a new location without his knowledge. When we remodeled the bathroom, I thought he was going to expire, poor kid. Especially since he likes to drink out of the sink and we put a new vanity in. *gasp* We made idiots of ourselves for weeks standing in there trying to entice him to drink...

The other thing is packing. If a suitcase or overnight bag comes out, he gets quite panicky. He generally drapes himself on or in it in an attempt to sabotage our packing.

He doesn't care for the vacuum but it doesn't totally freak him out.

10. My babies are gone now
However, when they were with me, I had a pair of bunny slippers - big old fuzzy bunny slippers. They had floppy ears, little pink eyes, the whole magilla. I'd take them off at the side of the bed and the two cats would hiss at them! Then, to get on the bed, they'd do this amazing leap from the doorway to the bed - to avoid ... dum dum dum... the BUNNY SLIPPERS! It was the funniest thing I had seen in quite a while. Sometimes? When I was feeling especially mean? I would chase them with BUNNY SLIPPERS!

12. My mom
She hates cats, and they know it. Whenever she comes over, they make a b-line through the cat door to the basement.

Spiders on the wall, and flies in the house. I've lost a lot of breakables to their frenzy.

time I saw him really get upset was the day he got a plastic bag looped around his head. It was a stitch. :hi:

23. That's what Merlin did. Took us about a half hour to get his little
heart calmed down. He looked for all the world like a super hero with a plastic "cape" flying out behind him. :hi:
