We had a LONG term relationship...still occasionally see each other. Every Christmas, he gives me a Chia, to this day.

It's a joke, now, between us. I adore him, he adores me, and we are no longer in a steady relationship (our occupations and distance prohibits that), but we are always happy to see each other again, whenever we can.

So, maybe, just MAYBE, you should be happy about it, because it's really a silly term of endearment, and it shows that you two have the ability to be silly with each other.
