WTF???? Dr. Phil thinks Natalee Holloway is a sex slave in Venezuela?
Apparently the sham artist is dedicating his thursday show to this, showing "never seen before evidence" of why Natalee is a sex slave being held in Venezuela.... :eyes:

If this never seen before evidence is not the imagination of Beth Holloway, why the fuck didn't she tell it to the cops?

Hmmmm I wonder if this will be used as a pretense to invade Venezuela - to bring "freedom" to all the missing pretty white girls being held hostage there? Hmmm......

1. What's the evidence?
There IS a well-known sex slave trade that spans much of South & Central America, but most of the girls trapped in it are coerced into joining, not kidnapped (i.e., they're tricked into joining and then prohibited from ever leaving).

Is it impossible that Holloway was kidnapped and is being held as a sex slave? No, it's not. Is it likely? Absolutely not...practically all of the women who are kidnapped are taken from the larger continental nations like Mexico, Brazil, and Columbia.

Holloway's fate is tragic, but the decents odds are that she was kidnapped, probably raped, and most definitely murdered. Considering how the island was swept from top to bottom, her body was probably dumped into the ocean and will never be found.

3. His "evidence" is that Beth received a call
a few days after Natalee's dissapearance with a foreign man speaking a foreign lang, and Natalee's voice in the background... :eyes:

10. you're right that her fate is tragic
and you're probably also right about what happened to her, although I pray that you're wrong about that and the young lady returns to her family someday. I don't blame the mother for her vigilance in pursuing an answer, just about any parent would feel this way. I can't stand the media for going along on the sensational ride and not moving on to other things now.

8. And what is your evidence of that?
There are tons of theories as to what happened to her, but if Dr. Phil is the only one to check out the "sex slave" thing, then so be it. I am sure her parents are thankful.

15. But that's just it, they are all speculation
Since there was no body, and no evidence other than the circumstantial...we have no idea what happened.

So basically being eaten by sharks is about as probably as murder at this point...

20. True - but I question whether or not that actually happened
If it happened, why didn't she tell the cops - why did she have to wait until now and only tell Dr. Phil?

Personally, I think she made it up because her daughter's story was fading from the headlines, and with it, hope that there would be any resolution.

24. Date rape drug. she woke up, they freaked, someone killed her
they just happened to know someone on that ISLAND who had a boat, they took her off shore and threw her over.

The most obvious is the most likely.

The question is in all this (I by no means am speaking ill of her) is -didn't her friends think it was odd that she was climbing into a car with 4 or 5 guys at 11PM? No? So the were just kids having fun and something went terribbly wrong? Okay stop painting her as a pristine princess and for crying out loud WE GET THE RACIST MESSAGE ALREADY.

That was my Natalle Holloway post on DU.

37. In my day, I saw a lot of my friends do much more stupid
and suspicious things than hopping in a car at 11 PM with a couple guys.

I never thought twice about it and, even had I decided to do something about it, I wouldn't have known what to do.

And, of course, none of them ever disappeared.

7. I've watched his show several times and I think he
gives very good advice most of the time. And as I said before, it is not that uncommon for women to be sold as sex slaves in certain countries. That is likely not what happened, but I'm sure her parents would like all bases to be covered. I think I would rather be dead than sold as a sex slave. Either way, her fate is grim. :(

But, being sold as a sex slave in some countries is common. I don't personally think that is what happened, but all areas should be covered.

12. Well he's a sham psychologist
His dirty secret is that he never did private practice! So all of his advice is either made up on his own, or from a book - but none of it from real life practice!

His "experience" before his show was as a Courtroom expert on psychology. Great place for someone who's experience is all normative, but shitty if he's going to be "America's Psychologist."

I also disagree with his sexist views on women, families and marriage...

16. Well how about...
His definition of a perfect husband - "If my wife could be happy at home all day without ever having to leave the house - that would prove to me that I am a perfect husband."

"To me the definition of a man is that of how we provide for our families."

21. What is wrong with providing for the family.
As outdated as it sounds, a lot of men still feel that they should be the provider. I've heard advice that he gives and it is about both husband and wife providing for the family in whatever way they feel is best. Whether it be both working or one or the other.

23. Thing is that's very limiting to men, and insulting to women
Who provide as well. My wife is a working mom and she provides 50/50 - in fact thats how we define our marriage. We provide, but that's not our only definition. We also nurture, we teach, and we love.

Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 02:11 PM by Shell Beau
is not the only means to providing. And as a woman, why would I ever insult women? My point is that a lot of men (not only Dr. Phil) feel the need to provide financially for the family. It doesn't have to be that way. Whatever works best for your family. Whether it be, both work, or only one parent works (mom or dad). And that is the message I have gotten from him and the shows I have seen.

Wifey watches Dr. Phil occasionally - less so since he's proved to be sexist, homophobic and republican in his views.

And yes, it celebrated HATE. The women may have been hurt badly, but nothing justifies that level of hatred.

Dr. Phil has a B.S, M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from North Texas State University with a dual area of emphasis in clinical and behavioral medicine. He has been a board-certified and licensed clinical psychologist since 1978.
