My beach photos (DIALUP WARNING)
I took these last May at the Oregon Coast (Florence, to be specific). We stayed there with my two sisters, two BIL's, and our nephew.

This is a view of the deck of the house we were staying in:

Here's another view of the beach from the house:

Start of sunset:

This one is really interesting -- I don't know what caused the red spots around the sun:

Sun is almost gone:

And finally, just to exercise my Aunt SeattleGirl bragging rights, here is my nephew. He just turned two in October:

1. My dear SeattleGirl......
I am so glad to see your lovely pics.....the beach is glorious!

And I LOVE your nephew!

The red spots are probably caused by reflections from the sun off your lens.....

Thanks for posting these!

You go, girl......

:woohoo: :woohoo:

3. Thank you, Miss Peggy!
You have shown us some very wonderful photographs, and so i take your praise as high indeed! I think you are correct about the red spots being the sun reflecting from the lense, but I thought it was pretty cool.

And I love my nephew too -- especially since when I was in Las Vegas for my birthday, he left me a voicemail message on my cell phone, singing "Happy Birthday" to me! :loveya:

:loveya:  :loveya:

10. Thanks LynzM!
I was so fortunate that we had good weather overall during our stay, but I think the clouds at sunset really added to the beauty of the photos.

(And my nephew IS a cutie pie!)

20. If nephew's dad has his way, nephew will be a fisherman,
hunter, race car driver, and all around MAN. But bless BIL's heart, my nephew will also respect women, know how to cook, clean and do the laundry, and be able to take care of himself! That kid's gonna get a good "education"!

26. Being well-rounded is important
Unfortunately, I was brought up in one of those households where there was "women's work" and "men's work". Therefore I can cook, do laundry and clean but I can't do more than minor household repairs, and anything with my car takes a professional (other than putting on a spare, new wiper blades or other minor stuff). It would have been nice to have learned more of that stuff when I was growing up (though I suppose I could take some of those classes at Home Depot).

37. I was brought up the same way, and so was my BIL.
The cool thing is, he loves to cook, and my nephew just loves to learn things! And two of his favorite things to do are sweep and vacuum! When we were at the coast, we had to do a lot of "duck and cover" as he went through the house with the broom! For his birthday in October, one of the things we gave him was a kid-sized broom, and he just loves it. My mom gave him a toy vacuum cleaner, and he just thought that was the greatest thing!

He will grow into a man who can pick up after himself -- a fine quality in a man, in my opinion!

It actually wasn't bad this year during the day...didn't have to bring out the ear muffins and scarves to go down to the beach! But the nights got pretty cool. We had such a wonderful time! I love the coast.

And my nephew is such a wonderful little boy, I just love him beyond words!

40. Hey, MissHoneychurch!
Thank you! I love that little guy so much it just makes my heart burst! He's so cute, he's so smart, and he's funnier than hell!

He and his mommy and daddy came to visit us for a week this summer. We have two raised garden boxes in our back yard. We didn't plant anything this summer, so they were just filled with dirt. My sister's next door neighbors have a sandbox for their girls, and my nephew loves to play in it. Well, I told Mr. SG that I was sure our nephew would think the garden boxes were sandboxes, and sure enough, he did. He tried to climb into one, and I told him no, they were filled with dirt. We had a bit of a back and forth: "Dirt!" "Sand!" "Dirt!" "Sand!"

A couple of days later, my sister took him outside to play, and he grabbed a fistful of grass, went over to the garden boxes, threw the grass in, and said, "Dirt!"

53. There's just something about seeing a wee kid in dungarees...
... that makes me chuckle.

All my children have gone through loads of sets of them, and the bit that always made me laugh was when they first discovered the pockets - and immediately thrust their hands into them, toddling around babbling like loons being "all-growed-up" :)
