For a shining moment, Gordon Lightfoot was more popular than the Beatles.
In 1976, he released "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", which shot up the charts. The Beatles were nowhere to be found on those charts at the time.

Score one for Oasis.

4. There's actually a subtle implication in the way I present the score...
...actually not really an implication, because everyone knows it as fact...but the implication is that everyone knows that Oasis has won, so there would be no use in giving an interim score.

5. Today is the 30th anniversary of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
Edited on Thu Nov-10-05 02:08 PM by Bridget Burke
The Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum will have a memorial service, in which the bell recovered from the ship will be rung 29 times, once for each of the men who died. The bell will be rung by survivors of other Lake Boat disasters--over the years, 6000 boats have been lost on the Great Lakes.

9. Today is the 30th anniversary of the Fitz' sinking
Only an Oasis fan would start a thread so crass as this on that anniversary.

The Gallaghers are still talentless hacks who should go back to animal buggery.

10. Seems to me he is praising Lightfoot
I know for a fact that those bastard Beatles never wrote an homage to the wreck of the Fitzgerald.
