The official "LOST" thread featuring strange things about "LOST"
Edited on Thu Nov-10-05 07:54 AM by undeterred
The plane breaks apart and crashes but not a single person seems to have crash related injuries a month or two later.

Nobody's clothes are wearing out, amazingly.

The guys are often cleanshaven. The women don't have hairy legs. Yeah, I know the shaving kits survived but who shaves on a deserted island?

4. Well...
"The plane breaks apart and crashes but not a single person seems to have crash related injuries a month or two later."
Pretty sure the lack of major injuries is actually mentioned in the series, by Locke I think.

And why not shave when you've got not much else to do?

5. Locke is actually able to walk after the plane crash
but not before it. Its mentioned, but its still pretty strange!

Doesn't stop people from meeting tragedy, though...

But he also mentioned how it was something special that 40+ of them survived with only superficial injuries. It's a conscious part of the plot, they're lacking in major injuries because there's something odd going on.

8. strange things happen on a strange island
I personally like LOST the way it is :)

Last night's epizode was good. I felt sorry for Shannon. During the first season I was thinking she is a spoiled shild turned bitch. She didn't have to die like that... Though I am not sure we won't see her in the future. I mean it makes no sense to have both the brother and the sister die. There is more to this story... They can't just kill them IMHO

Edited on Thu Nov-10-05 09:38 AM by Shell Beau
okay with getting killed off, but after I saw her back story, I changed my mind. But it still doesn't explain why she was such a bitch. Like at the airport before they took flight, she left Sayid's bags that he asked to her to watch over and then told security that some Arab man left a bag unattended!! But last night it didn't show her as being selfish at all!!

22. I was sort of surprised too
Especially after we realized that it was her father who died in the car crash with Jack's future wife.

With both Shannon and Boone dead, Jack will never be able to make that connection.

7. The island is so fricking big it takes a few days to cross and yet
it's not inhabited by anyone normal.

You just get use to the comment that this place is pretty weird

I am not sure I am ready to leave the other survivors for a while. It is almost like we are starting over. Plus I can't stand Ana Lucia. But then again, that may change after seeing what they have gone through.

I hadn't noticed "clean shavedness" among the men, but I would have to say, they don't look the way _I_ would look after 40 some odd days.

12. You mean--you wouldn't look like THIS after 40 days?

He isn't clean shaven, though. Most of the LOST characters look better on their worst days than most of us look on our best days. After a real crash following a plane breakup, everyone would look like a pile of bleached bones within 40 days.

LOST is not real & I love it!

18. Well we do know they wash their clothes and themselves.
They have some supplies left from the plane crash. I am assuming they have razors or make-shift ones anyway. Of course their clothes should be a little more worn. Their wounds are part of the mystery of the island. They survived almost unscathed. That has been mentioned.

29. Well, it's nothing really specific
Just a theory that I had. (And once I thought about it, it was sort of hard to not see it like that.)

But basically there are these 50+ people (the "normal" survivors and the tail-enders) whose lives are all really oddly and coincidentally linked and who have ended up on this island. You could look at this two ways, I think -- either the coincidences are just that, coincidences, or these people were intentionally brought together somehow due to the links in their past.

If you side with coincidence, then, yes, it was probably a weird plane crash.

However, if you think that they were brought there intentionally, it kind of makes more sense that there wasn't ever a crash. If the Hanso Foundation (or the Dharma Initiative or whoever) wanted to get a specific group of 50+ people on the island (for whatever reason), what would be simpler? To individually get them all on the same commercial flight, crash it, and hope that the people who survived were the people you wanted to be there? Or to abduct the 50+ people (and tinker with their memory somehow), drop them on the island, and stage a plane crash?

It just seems like staging the plane crash would have been the simplest way to go, and I'm a sucker for Occam's Razor, so...

35. That is basically my theory (because I had no other oprions)
the "purgatory" one was taken by many people.

I think the plane was wrecked on purpose but not because of the Hanson Foundation (I came up with this before we knew that)

Two qualifiers
-This is NOT LIHOP or MIHOP which I completely disregard....this is just my adapting those to a TV show
-I really have given up trying to guess and I just watch the show now.

I think the plane was blown up on purpose and Sayid has been blamed for the whole thing. They just happened to survive and just happened upon this island.

Hold it....who are "the others"? That is the answer when we find that out we will know everything.....okay I have to go check my math on this (pppttt ppptt-sound of foot steps running away)

23. I think it's funny that no one has a bad sunburn
especially the fair skinned Claire and Shannon.

I LOVE this show though. I actually visit a lost forum...those people don't miss a thing. Apparently there are pics floating around from the first episode and the crashed plane has a faint symbol of the Dharma Industries on it. :scared: I don't know if it's real or if it was photoshopped.

For other LOST dorks like me, visit this forum: www.lost-forum.com The people there are far more bitchy than DUers but overall it's a good place to discuss/learn all things LOST.

28. they definitely go too deep
and it's funny to read some of the arguments they get into over various characters and theories.

I love that LOST can do that though...all the twists and turns keep me interested. Once I can figure out what is going to happen in a drama (tv or movie) I get bored with it and stop watching. I don't see that happening with LOST anytime soon.

From the very beginning.

I have a three day weekend coming up.

Should I watch them? Or should I just try watch the rest of Arrested Development that he also loaned to me?

(not a big tv watch at all so I need some help here)

Thanks.

27. Both shows are good but....
LOST is far more interesting and it draws you in from the first episode. The way the writers did the character development is absolutely incredible.

Arrested Development is great, but it's light and you don't necessarily have to watch it in order the way you have to with LOST.

So go with whatever mood you're in. If you want to laugh your ass off, watch AD. If you're in a "heavier", more suspenseful mood, then go with LOST but watch it in order.

Without the commercials, each episode is only like 20 minutes long, so I was able to watch about 6 episodes in the time it takes to watch a movie.

Gilligan's Island was a "Three-hour tour." This was a transcontinental flight from Sydney to Los Angeles. Of course there's going to be some personal belongings and toiletries at the ready.

I still have my suspension of disbelief. :freak:

Huh? Let's face it, the American public just don't wanna see the chicks with the hairy legs and pits and the guys with the ZZ Top beards.

The bigger question has to revolve around how these folks relieve themselves. I don't remember seeing any Port-A-Potties laying around on the beach after the crash, nor an abundance of toilet paper.

And am nursing it out. One episode a week. Did two last weekend. I've gone as far as Charlie's back story.

I wondering if any spoof film makers have thought of doing Gilligan's Island in Lost style?

No, I have never been on a deserted island, the closest I have come to the experience was surviving Katrina. All I had was gone, but when I had the chance, I shaved my legs gosh darn it, personal hygiene is important to feeling better about ourselves.
