Report from the Ninth Circle....
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 11:34 AM by Richardo
Our polling place opened 25 minutes late this morning. I cast what will probably be the only vote against Texas Prop 2 in my precinct.
(Amends the Texas constitution to prohibit gay marriages, civil unions, any and all other legal arrangements for same-sex couples.)
I'm reporting the precinct to the State for ineptness.

On the plus side, saw a guy at the bookstore over the weekend with a "Not My President" t-shirt on. That was remarkable enough here in the 9th Circle, so I said, "Like your shirt." He said "Thanks, I'm an Army combat veteran too." To which I said "Thanks for your service."

That conversation got a gratifying number of stares from the "Support the Troops" crowd. :)

1. I can't believe we (the royal we) are writing hate into our constitution.
I mean...I can believe it, but I can't believe it.

:(

2. Alright! I can' t wait to go vote.
I'm just trying to keep the fundies off our school board. Even in "blue" Minnesota, I get excited when confronted with an obviously like-mided individual, and I don't have to contend with a wealth of idiots- that's gotta suck.:pals:

3. I'm going to vote in my blue county in a few minutes.
I know I won't be the only person in my precinct to vote against Proposition 2. I would be if I still lived in the Woodlands, however.

My first election (2002) was such a let down. Montgomery County as far as I know still has no Democratic party, so I voted libertarian when there was no other choice than Republican.

I don't think I voted for a single thing that won. Including Tony Sanchez.

4. I forgot! I was trying to foment revolution in line waiting for the polls
...to open.

Some lady (this is at 7:20): "They say it will be 20 more minutes."
Me: I say let's just go in and stand in front of the registration tables."

Two minutes later:
Me: "C'mon, we've been having elections for over 230 years!"

Two minutes later:
Me: "They have smoother elections in BAGHDAD!" (This got some gratifying dirty looks).

One minute later:
Polls finally open - 25 minutes late. :grr:

5. It's a wonder you weren't arrested!
Comparing Texas unfavorably to Baghdad? Richardo!
