Think I am becoming intolerant on DU.

I have been hitting ignore alot lately. I used to find the hostility and name calling in GD amusing but lately not so much. The accusations if you disagree with someone are just sad. Heck, I am putting people on ignore that are not even replying to me. I just have little tolerence for nonsense these days.

I took an unplanned hiatus due to Katrina and even now I only have internet access from time to time. This place just does not seem the same any more. I know posting is kind of seasonal and it will get better when elections get near but now it seems kind of intolerant to me. God help you if you disagree with someone. <shrug>

You seem to contraindicate yourself. You bemoan a lack of tolerance on DU, and yet you say yourself 'I have little tolerance for nonsense these days'.

If I see nonsense, I try to correct or understand it. If I see hostility I try to make peace or create tolerance. To my detractors, I say "Now you're punching and you're kicking and you're shouting at me. I'm relying on your sense of decency. So far it hasn't surfaced, but I'm sure it exists. It just takes a while to travel from your head to your fists."

Do you get what you sow? When I am not ignored, I find alot of intelligent, funny, and good-hearted people on this board. Maybe I just don't hang out in GD alot.

12. We get off time now but I am still waiting on the SBA to see if I

can get a loan. Didn't have flood insurance so if they so no I am screwed. <shrug>

Aside for that I am doing good. Got the family in an apartment. We are going back to normal shifts at work. Biloxi still looks horrible in areas but it is going to look that way for a long time. We should have 3 casinos open by Christmas. :)

what I have a hard time with is the lack of tolerance for diversity. Sometimes the responses are every bit as racist (in the reverse) as the RW'ers they are moaning and groaning about.

from reading the other posts, sounds like you have enough stress right now. I got in a stupid argument in GD last week. What really pisses me off is when the attacker pretends that you don't have a point. Doesn't ask for clarification, just keeps hammering. Not allowing credibility to people on your side smacks of stupidity.
