Who is your favorite 1st Lady?
Edited on Sat Oct-29-05 03:59 PM by ronnykmarshall
For me it's all about Jackie!

She had class. She had style. She was a wonderful mother and didn't care for the spotlight.

When President Kennedy was murdered, she showed the nation and world what a strong woman she really was.

I think Jackie in her own way, wrapped her arms around a nation and a world in shock and helped them to grieve with grace.

I love you Jackie.

I think if Jackie were alive today, I think she would have loved to see John Kerry as President.

A class act, and a socially conscious lady, all the way.

20. Absolutely ...

No one else runs a close second in my opinion.

Jackie would be that second, but she strikes me as a bit more style than substance.

9. For actually "doing stuff", you can't Beat Eleanor Roosevelt, but...
Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy was the epitomy of what a First lady should be, for all the reasons you mentioned.

Plus, physically she's my "ideal woman" type... the figure, the dress-sense, the bob, the wide face, the far-set, huge eyes. Vaa-vaa-voom!

Maybe I should rent "House of Yes" again tonight.

12. I agree with you.
I love Mrs. Roosevelt too.

I think another first lady that doesn't get alot of props was Lady Bird Johnson.

She was also a cool lady too. I think that she can into the office in a great shadow of grief and never once tried to disrespect Jackie.

What I found funny was the first thing Sea Hag Babs did was take a swipe at La Nancy.

I love when Republican women fight.

One first lady that my heart goes out to is Pat Nixon. For what ever faults her husband had .... she loved him. And I think that he was crushed when she died.

15. i agree
We will probably never have another First Lady
as classy as Jackie.
She was a diplomat, mother, wife. She was a great
asset to her husband.
She was so loved by the American people.

19. Jackie, for sure
Brains, beauty, class...loved her man even though she knew his faults. They don't make them like her anymore.

Not sure I agree with you about her liking Kerry, though. But I don't know. I think she would have preferred Dean.

She was never much into the anti-war stuff, tho, that I remember.

I read a book about her once that was a supposed tell all and when you read it you were supposed to hate her, I guess...but I liked her even better.

I was truly saddened when she died too young.

26. I kind of like Abigail Adams...
Edited on Sat Oct-29-05 10:48 PM by NYdemocrat089
she and John had such an amazing relationship. John Adams has always fascinated me.

I really like this painting of her. I saw it this summer in Washington with several other famous paintings by Gilbert Stuart.
