3. His office is in the Blocker building.
I'm so tempted to drive down there, see him, and go "hmm, ok, just wanted to see this for myself."

But then I found that recent pic of him and my curiousity is sated. He just looks like....a professor.

He apparently doesn't tell people who he is, especially his students. He didn't even tell his wife when they were dating that he had been an actor. And I don't know where that picture came from, because normally he doesn't allow his picture to be taken.

I wonder how happy he is there. He's from New York City and lived in California for a while. I just can't imagine living in College Station for the rest of my life. Eh.

7. Does he still hang with Robert Downey Jr.?
If he is, tell him to stop. That kid is trouble, as he was in 'Weird Science'. Strange how life mimics art.

10. I read an interview with him (this guy, not Downey) from
the Austin paper about a couple of years ago and apparently he hasn't hung out with Downey in years.

Oh and he never liked Anthony Michael Hall's stuff much. LOL.

12. Give Downey a break,
he seems to have put his life back together, besides I always thought addiction is a disease.

14. Hear, hear.
He got married recently and looked really healthy and happy. Good for him, I say.

(But I think that other DUer was being a bit tongue-in-cheek, anyway.)

26. I was just joking around.
I like Downey's stuff. 'Wonder Boys' was brilliant.

8. Hey, I know him
:) we used to know eachother during his undergraduate days at UCDavis.
He's a great guy. One of the most grounded down to earth people I've met. He's not into the whole Weird Science or even acting anymore.

Small world :)

13. Apparently he's only seen it twice.
Once when it came out and once just a few years ago.

Shrug. Go figure. I've got it on DVD, it's among my favorite 80s films.

25. My movie star friend in college was Henry Thomas, the kid who
played "Elliot" in ET. He was originally from San Antonio. He tried getting into A&M and went to Blinn College (a junior college) there in College Station for a while. It's nicknamed "Blinndergarten."

Anyway, I don't think he ever got in, but he lived there and had a few good parties and was generally a very quiet, laid-back guy. He DID hate "phone home" jokes, though. I met him while I was working in a grocery store there, part-time. It amazed me how he bought things I considered to be uber-expensive without even batting an eye. Course back then I didn't even buy ground beef.

I just looked him up on imdb.com. Apparently married and has one kid now.

11. Yep. I found a fairly recent article (couple of years ago)
and he does indeed sound very grounded and normal and just....well, like a regular guy.

I was just sort of weirded out that the kid from that movie (which I love) is now teaching in my major field at my alma mater. Weirdness! One degree of Ilan Mitchell-Smith!

LOL.

He teaches a literature and fine arts class at Syracuse University. He can be seen on The History Channel's new documentary on Roman engineering.
