Can you help us name our adopted sweetie? (Reward for perfect name)
Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 04:49 PM by Maddy McCall
I've just been calling him "Little Dude" because I can't come up with anything for him. We were going to name him Tex, because we thought he was born in Texas, but now we find out that he was actually born in Tennessee. He never responded to "Tex" anyway.

Ok, here are the specifics. He's a German Schnauzer--so I have a tendency to like German names, but any name that "fits" him will do. I like unusual names...years ago, my friend had a schnauzer named "Trichla" and I loved that name.

Here's his photo. He's the darker of the two. The one in front is Lucinda, my other schnauzer.

His temperment--well, he's very loving, very goofy yet intelligent, and supremely loyal. He knows that we saved his life, and he spends all of his time rewarding us with kisses.

Whomever comes up with the perfect name will be rewarded with a DU T-shirt from the DU store. Multiple suggestions are allowed and appreciated. My son and I will make the decision--and I must tell you that MMjr. has veto power.

Ok...get to naming. And THANKS!

(I have to run to the grocery store...I'll log on later. Please don't take my silence as evidence that I'm not watching this thread. I'm going to watch it until midnight, and then we'll decide. Love ya, DUers! )

5. HEY! I got the package!
Thank you for the sweet note! I owe all of you guys photos, don't I?

Your note made my day. I was having an AWFUL day. Anyway, the package has been forwarded to Anna. I need to call to be sure she received it. She's back in Port Arthur now.

I have another package to forward, so I will call to see if they received it.

Also, a must, follow Erma Bombeck's lead and yell the name out loud a few times. You'll be doing that everytime your new baby leaves you special surprises! :hi:

29. I like most of these for both meaning and how they sound...
when naming a pet, I have to practice with the name....

Flea, stop rolling in that dead worm!
Flea, come here and cuddle with me!
Flea, do you you need to go potty?
Flea, stop humping your toys in front of company!

and if there are nicknames that can be made with the name, i.e. Fleabert, fleabie, fleanie, pulga, pulgita, fleanerd, fleatastic, fleasters, etc...

so that is how I came to choose these names...

EBBE m German, Scandinavian
Short form of EBERHARD ( no meaning here, I just think it's cute)

ENGELBERT m German
From a Germanic name composed of the elements Angil "Angle" (the name of Germanic tribe) and beraht "bright"...

HUBERT m English, German, Dutch, French
Means "bright heart", derived from the Germanic elements hug "heart, mind" and beraht "bright"

LEBERECHT m German
Means "live rightly" from German lebe "live" and recht "right"..

RAPHAEL m English, German, French, Biblical
From the Hebrew name Repha'el which meant "God has healed"...(raffi for short)

Prächtiger Hund: gorgeous dog in German, you could call him Prach or Tiger for short!

70. well,
Toto is the name I've already chosen for my next canine friend- After our Bing is gone.
Regardless of the size or looks- Names usually arrive before the furbaby.

Toto?
Bozo? (sounds cruel, but, Bo or Zoe for nicknames work well)

Brando? for Tennesse W'ms "Streetcar named Desire" star?

Williams? would work well with Lucinda though too- She sings pretty sweet.

At any rate, you have two cuties there- and they look pretty happy as well.
