I want to paint my dog's paws white (safely and temporarily). How?
The veterinary specialty clinic in Greenville, SC, is having a Halloween party for their chemotherapy patients. Since sweet Sirius died on 8/25, the clinic has invited me to bring Nick-Nick. I am really touched by the invitation.

It is a doggy costume party. Since Nick-Nick looks so much like Sirius, I would like to "paint" his paws and breast white and take him to the party as Sirius. What can I use to for white coloring that will be very safe and easy to remove?

Sirius' white paws and breast show up well here (taken one week before he died).

Nick-Nick (has a hint of white in his paws and breast).

1. Hmmmm. Flour? Tempera paint?
The latter should be non-toxic as well.

4. Tempera paint is safe.
I used to eat it I am told. Thanks.

2. I'd be tempted to spray paint his feets then wash them off later...

I honestly don't think it would hurt him. I've gotten paint in my hair and it comes right out in the shower; on my own skin and it washes off even after being dry, etc.

I've also gotten paint on my doggies accidentally while working on projects, and it just disappears in a day or so.

I wouldn't paint his pads, just the fur bits. It'll be cute if not unconventional.

As an afterthought, you can use costume hair spray paint, used to put in one's hair as a temporary 'color' just for occasions such as halloween, it would be fine too. Washes right out. It's the skin contact thing that's sort of important, but just on hair, it's fine.

5. Beauty supply, places with halloween costumes, maybe even drug stores
or kmart/target discount stores, etc. Theatrical make-up stores if you're in a big city.
