This is not bashing Free Republic.com, nor it is bashing members here. On the contrary, this place is one of the best sites for news, information and opinions on the web.

But, to be honest, sticking around here and chatting amongst ourselves is just preaching to the choir. We need to go on the offensive.

I've been going to the Metallica.com message boards and raising hell in what I call, "Hostile Territory". I haven't turned many to our side, but I have educated many. It's really a challenge. Others have probably been doing this for a while now.


I think we need to do more of this. We should find any site with a forum that has any threads that say things like, "Bush Sucks," or, "America imperialist killers," or the like. I'm starting this thread to try and make a place that we FReepers can use to gather and consolidate our sources and facts. Also we can use it as a place to bring up arguments that are just so silly and childish, that they should be read and laughed at by others.


I, for one, am sick of being on the defensive all the time. So, I crush all the lies with facts gathered on the web and all the conservative books I own. If more of us did the same, we'd be an even stronger force to be reckoned with..


Remember the rules of the other forums, debate with dignity and logic. Expect to be banned from these sites sometimes.

I have joined RandallFlagg at the Metallica chat boards to do some educating. But not nearly as much as RandallFlagg has. He has been all over the boards there dishing some common sense, history, reality, and the truth.

Randall, The show in Atlanta was great! I hope you get to see them this summer.

This is why we formed chapters to FReep our local communities. FReeping the internet is fine, but joining a local chapter takes it to them in your local city or town.

4. This is the perfect thread for me to come across on my first visit here ..

...because it was that thread on FR yesterday that got me thinking about registering here. Then someone asked me on another thread if I was a DUer in disguise, and that got me thinking more...

Unlike walkin' dude, however, I am not here to disrupt on behalf of Republicans. I read the rules at the intro, and I am really not entirely clear on whether a moderate libertarian(small l) may or may not put in his two cents here.

If not, I won't. On FR, "progressive" means "stealth totalitarian" and I see the intro here that one must be supportive of "progressive" goals in order to be welcome here. I suspect that the term "progressive" might have a different meaning when used by the administration of this forum than when used on FR ; )

I didn't see a way to directly ask the admins, so if someone who knows how to get their attention would do that or tell me how, I would appreciate it.

I am asking permission before I cruise around and start posting, as I am honestly here primarily for the purpose of injecting my perspectives into the general discourse, not to make a big scene and get banned, or to trick anyone into voting R or anything like that.

If you want advice, I've seen people get away with posting differing viewpoints if you do it in a VERY respectful manner (note the strong points of the others' argument etc.) and mix it in with liberal posts. If you get at all hostile, you're a goner. Honestly, I don't like the banning conservatives idea, I would opt for a debate forum that they can argue in.

Well, LibertyPost is so full of hate and venom for FR and the person of Jim Robinson that I don't feel comfortable there. I expect this place to be anti-FR(look at this thread), but wheelchair jokes and things like that make me wish I had read more before I registered at LP. Most of their problems with FR are actually personal problems with the people who run it, and so I don't share those hostilities.

Also, after I registered, some of the people with whom I was conversatin' left me feeling maybe a little manipulated, as if my presence was being painted with a meaning I didn't intend. I am not mad at the forum or anything, I just would rather not post there.

So besides LP, where should I go?
