Speculations about "LOST" - Enter if you dare
I should have figured this out long ago.

I didn't get this from any website or anything... I just came up with these thoughts this morning.

The Dharma Initiative: Obviously an experiment to control Karmic fate, gone horribly wrong. The Law Of Unintended Consequences run amok

Hurley's Numbers: A formula for controlling Karmic fate. The man that he gleaned them from in the institution was previously involved with the Dharma initiative, perhaps he was a former team member at another remote site.

The Island: A karmic magnet, the Swan is there to control the karmic forces from getting out of hand by imputing the control numbers in a timely fashion.

The Crash: An incident driven by a single failure to input the numbers in a timely fashion

The Others: Perhaps people seeking to harness the power of Karmic Fate, or those brought to the island and against their will because of it, or team members of the Dharma Initiative who are there for whatever reasons.

Conclusions: Some survivors on that plane KNOW WHAT THE ISLAND ACTUALLY IS and are keeping that secret away from the other passengers.

1. To add to your conclusion- Locke definitely gets it.
Jack may "get it" too- I'm not so sure about the other survivors, though.

5. To compound on Mr. Scorpio's theory-
perhaps that is what caused the crash in the first place.

6. That's right, Locke gets it
That film confirmed all of his previous speculations.

I can safely assume that he's not part of the D.I.

2. Wow!
That's an interesting theory! I think you may just be on to something. Although, they said during last week's episode that there is suppose to be an electromagnetic field on the island. Remember Desmond saying that his fillings hurt whenever he passed that wall?
Do you think Karma power could do that?

7. Perhaps on the Island, it can
We have no way of knowing how powerful this energy is.

Anyone involved with the project has know way of knwoing either...

And it came and bit them in the ass.

4. I think the big guy in the others
is the guy who went to the loo right before the crash-the guy whose wife sat on the beach and kept saying he's not dead. In the first couple of episodes.

12. no, Rose's husband is white
I only know this because of the actor they hired to portray Rose's husband is a white actor. I thought the same thing you did until I found this out.

8. There are other things I haven't figured out yet:
Edited on Tue Oct-11-05 06:52 AM by MrScorpio
How is the French woman involved?

Why did the Dharma Initiative scientists take Walt?

How does the security system work?

The polar bear, how does that figure into the D.I. and are there any more?

How the hell did that ship end up so far in-land?

Jin, what is his real story? (We'll see about that one tomorrow, perhaps)

9. Here's my thoughts from a Lost newcomer

  1. Did they take a lifetime supply of razors? The men's beards never grow and their hair lengths never change
  2. Sayid is a muslim, have we ever once seen him do his prayers? Muslims are suppose to be doing that 5 times a day. Even the most lapse Muslim (which I've known a few) are still pretty reliable when it comes to their prayers (and btw, the guy who plays Sayid - isn't he a Hindu Indian?)
  3. Is Oceanic Airlines the most lax standards. I mean a man brought a suitcase filled with knives and somehow 6 guns made it on the plane (plus a lifetime supply of razors & scissors)

That is all!

11. Here are some answers...
Did they take a lifetime supply of razors? The men's beards never grow and their hair lengths never change

I seem to recall them trying to shave in the first season. Also, they have only been there for about 45 days.

No answer for this really, except that he must not be observant. Sayid is supposed to be from Iraq.

Is Oceanic Airlines the most lax standards. I mean a man brought a suitcase filled with knives and somehow 6 guns made it on the plane (plus a lifetime supply of razors & scissors)

I think that airlines will let you check weapons (although not positive). Locke's knives were in the checked luggage. The guns are from the US Marshall who had taken Kate into custody.

10. What I find interesting about LOST....
So far, many of the characters have gotten what they wished for. Locke has his legs back, Kate is no longer running away, Michael has (had) his son back, Sawyer is no longer a con, Jin no longer works for Sun's father, Sun has her husband back...it all seems so "be careful for what you wish for" in a way.

13. Okay here is my theory
Note:This is my theory because it is different than any of the other theories I have heard/read (purgatory is the most popular) it is mine but feel free to take what you want.

Okay

The crash (explosion) was no accident. It was done on purpose and right now in the real world Sayid is being blamed for the whole thing. DIRECT links to terrorists...IRaqi....and so forth. I don't subscribe to LIHOP or MIHOP so this is my daliance into that dark dark world.

Once the plane disappeared it was used by some in power to change the power structure (to include increasing their already held power).

That being said, When the guys stopped the raft they said "What are yo doing this far out?" .....out? from the island? Why wouldn't they say something about being in the middle of the ocean??? Sawyer was right-that boat was not built for the open ocean.

To be honest I have given up on guessing as I have no freaking clue.....maybe it is just a flash of a second dream in Jack or Locke's head.

14. Well-obviously the pretty little new girl
whose name I do not know (the one down in the hole with Sawyer et al) is on of the "others", and she was in the airport bar and on the plane coming on to Jack.

15. I don't know that they're "the Others."
The others had a boat, guns, and other things. Ana Lucia (the new person) looked starved, desperate, and like she's been fighting something. I bet that her group has been fighting the Others directly, whereas Sawyer, Jin, & Michael's group only had peripheral contact. (until recently).
