Family Guy.

My friends love it. I just really can't get into it at all. I've seen a few episodes and they just kind of leave me nonplussed.

1. Survivor
I know a lot of people that really like that show and I can't believe they are still making episodes of the show.

I also have a lot of family members that watch The O'Riley Factor and 700 Club and I don't understand those either, but that discussion is for a different forum.

2. Ditto on the Family Guy....
There is way too much going on....

It's like watching an animated version of a joke off between Henny Youngman and Rodney Dangerfield with a dash of Don Rickles on the side...

6. I watched one episode and then gave myself an uppercut
for wasting half an hour of my life. Then after hearing about Patricia Heaton I gave myself another one.

I dropped Drew Carey for pretty much the same reason, though it had mildly amusing moments.

8. The thing is.... I have met both of them
Drew Carey went into a bar I worked at in his hometown, Parma....

And Patricia Heaton went to high school in the next suburb over from mine..... She sang in her choir and I sang in mine... The schools were bitter athletic rivals, so we would do a hands across the water type bull shit joint concert every year....

I met her at one of those and only cause I was interested in her father's work as a sports writer here in Cleveland....

17. Arrested Development
I've heard it's the greatest thing on TV, but I don't get it.

Honest to God I have a good sense of humor - I love the Simpsons, Futurama, Jon Stewart, DL Hughley, Ron White, Chris Rock (sometimes), Bernie Mac, Wallace & Gromit and lots of other shows and comedians. I've even come to appreciate Kids in the Hall and Monty Python (after being forced to watch hours of each).

But I didn't laugh once during "Something About Mary", and I don't laugh during Arrested Development.

28. I've not been impressed so far....
Amazing Race is for sh*t this season. I mean, where did they find such churchy, boring families? Watched one episode and never again!

Mothra Stewart's Apprentice is dull because she's trying so hard to be a polite Miss Manners that she comes off boring and fake. Everyone knows she's an abusive woman: Let's SEE it, already!!!!

The Apprentice hasn't been so good yet either. I believe it's because this time Trump had more of a hand in picking the candidates so he could get better business backgrounds. The producers, however, care less about business acumen than about a conflicting personalities and I think they are right.

America's Top Model is pretty much the same, though: Three or four obvious bets and the rest are just filler girls they scooped off the street.

I've been watching religiously for several seasons now but after ep 1 I was done.

60. Funny
Seriously, want to hear a funny story?

A few weeks ago my wife and I were watching "The Wheel" (I toy with her and let her win from time to time) and I swear they had it rigged.

Now this is a conspiracy theory.

They had on a one younger woman, a middle aged straight out of RW wife central casting complete with big FREINDS hair cardboard cutout human type, and a younger black guy.

Every other spin the young girl and the young guy hit Lose a Turn - not bankrupt mind you- so they always had money sitting in front of them. It didn't seem to matter that the woman in the middle couldn't figure out h_m s_andwich she kept getting to spin. I laughed and created a conspiracy theory that this was a pay off to some big donor or vote fixer (forget where she was from). His "old lady" wanted to win on the Wheel and they let her.

The final clue was impossible so she didn't get that but she was the biggest winner that day.

True story.

49. Family Guy sucks
Don't feel bad. It's a warmed-over Simpsons clone. It's regrettable that the Simpsons sucks these days too, but at least it was once brilliant and unparalleled. The Family Guy was neither at any time.

They rely on shock value and easy laughs. No subtlety at all, which was what prime-era Simpsons had in abundance.

But even 14 year olds need entertainment too. :D

56. EXACTLY
I find some of it funny from time to time, and that is fine and well - but it is so self-consciously "hip" and "edgy", to the point that it detracts from the truly funny parts. Now those parts are nearly non-existent.

I gave it a chance. People I like and respect enjoy the show tremendously, which made me giving it a shot worth some effort. But not anymore.

Precise analysis, btw.

61. just about everything other people watch
I despise reality shows. They are social darwinist propaganda. Couldn't ever stand them and still can't.

South park - sorry, just don't get it, seems like its perfect for 10 year old boys, but I find it stupid.

every sitcom - I can't think of a single one that I care to watch anymore. I guess they are funny sometimes, but its hard to wade through all the crap for a single funny joke. especially will & grace and joey, and friends, and all the rest. It's all the same formulaic (obvious) jokes and cardboard stereotype characterss that have been around forever. I think the last 'original' sitcom was dick van dyke.

as for family guy, not especially funny, but I will occasionally watch it for the 'in' jokes about RI that no one outside the biggest little would ever get.

Oh, saturday night live - when was the last time that was funny?

don't even get me started on movies that everyone seemed to love that I thought were just horrendous (titanic, something about mary).
