The Shock Of My Life -- Last Night.
Edited on Sat Oct-08-05 11:15 AM by bertha katzenengel
9:40 PM. I'm in bed reading. Five cats are with me, including one on my legs and one on my chest. Mrs. V.'s in the office.

There's a knock on the front door. Mrs. V. answers.

I hear giggling and think to myself, "that sounds like Gwen" (my niece who lives in California) -- who in the hell is that?"

Mrs. V. yells, "Baby, you need to come to the door."

Rasser frasser . . . quite annoyed, I yell back that I have to put on some clothes first. While I dress, I figure our rep has finally reached the neighbors and someone has brought us an injured cat or a kitten.

I go to the front door. Mrs. V. is grinning. She opens the door, and there stand one of my sisters and her two kids. Including Gwen, the giggler. Out of the blue. From frickin' California.

sonofa.... I swear I almost fell down. I had to grab the couch. I said, "what the fuck are you doing here?" and then I started crying.

My sister had been cooking this up since August. Unable to stand her excitement any longer, she told Mrs. V. about it two weeks ago. But she asked Mrs. V. to cook up a lie to get us out to Dulles & pick them up -- tonight. Liar! So they surprised her, too, by showing up last night.

Now the four of them are out to breakfast, since someone has to stay here with the workers. Mrs. V.'s been here all week with the workers, so she get a break.

While I was crying last night, trying to believe the woman I was holding was my sister, my other sister back home in CA called my cell, but I didn't hear it. That liar! Liars!! She just left me a message: "Just wondering if you're watching the Angels' game, gimme a call." Then I heard my brother in law in the background yell, "Paulie, you suck!" (I guess that's when the Yankees scored four in one inning.) I called her back and said, "NO, I'm not watching the Angels' game" and she cracked up.

I LOVE MY FAMILY!!

:woohoo:

I love my family too, wish my sisters lived closer but I'm going to visit next week. At least my brothers live near now.

17. What a great shock to get!
I'm sure that regardless of the wonderful outcome of you having to get up, those cats were still displeased.
