I hereby submit that Texas' greatest contribution
to the gastronomic universe is Frito Pie.

I feel I am a lesser human being for not learning of this culinary masterpiece, genius in its simplicity and tastiness, far too late in life. Among all the regrets I have in life, the tardiness in discovering Frito Pie will rank number one.

1. 100 percent right.
The only way to really eat a Frito Pie is to buy the small bags of Frito's and pour the chili into the bag, with onions and cheese if you like.

3. we have a family recipe for them...goes way back...
to the days when we made fritos by hand, out behind the barn, with elbow grease and a lot of corn...

Frito Pie,
first get a big glass of red wine,
then a bowl that you can put in the oven..have a couple drinks of the wine.. put layers of fritoes, chili, cheese, chopped onions, have another drink of wine and the get another glass full.. top off the layers with cheese and sour cream and chopped onions.. have another drink of red wine.. then preheat oven 359 degrees... put in oven for about 30 minutes... have another glass of wine... let cool about a minute then spool on a plate and eat.. with another glass of red wine.. enjoy........

copied directly (spelling errors and all) from my family site, posted by my grandfather. He enjoyed that evenings frito pie quite a bit, as you can tell.

6. Don't forget
the jalapenos!

You haven't really eaten Frito Pie, until you've regretted eating Frito Pie. :)

8. Stop that. You're making me want to go to the State Fair.
And if I go to the State Fair, it is inevitable that I will eat a Frito Pie, a Corny Dog, drink several Shiner Bocks, and quite possibly have a fried twinkie or maybe a funnel cake.

:puke: I feel a little ill just thinking about it. :7
