PLEASE HELP - I need names of neurosurgeons in Germany
Sorry for posting in two forums, but I'm desperate.

I know we have some members in Berlin and other parts of Germany. I desperately need surgery in my neck and I'm looking for neurosurgeons or spinal orthopedic surgeons in Germany. I was in an accident 2 years ago (hit by another, VERY large vehicle, other driver admitted fault, and, of course, there's a lawsuit) and my most recent MRI has revealed massive deterioration in my neck since the MRIs taken directly after the accident. I have 4 herniated discs and one is completely ruptured, pressing on my spinal cord. Because of an avalanche of bullshit, courtesy of the FDA and my damn-them-to-hell No Fault insurance, I cannot get the correct surgery in this country without waiting for it to be approved. Meanwhile, as my primary neurosurgeon specifically states, I'm a tragedy waiting to happen. I need disc replacement in TWO levels (and 3 levels of fusion), which is currently not allowed in the US in the cervical area. Otherwise, it's five levels of fusions - completely irreversible - and a bitch since there's cutting edge surgical techniques available.

Berlin is preferred since we have access to an apartment there and usually go there twice a year. I've not been able to travel at all since the accident. I'm hoping that Ambien will help make the trip bearable.

My humble apologies for intruding on the usual fun!

Thank you.

5. Amazing
Thank you so much, Midlo! This gives us much more footing to work with, since, as we research the names, other viable links are coming up. My SO is doing most of the research since he speaks and reads fluent German, however, he's a technodolt, so I have to hover nearby. It's times like these that makes you realize why we have a sense of humor in the first place.

Once I'm capable of it, I owe you dinner!

6. I saw something on 60 minutes about India & Bangkok hospitals
I was actually amazed with these hospitals because they were more like 5-star hotels. The story was about Americans who went overseas to get the surgery they couldn't afford here in America. One woman actually went to this luxury hospital in India to get a new type of hip replacement surgury not yet available in the US.

It's obvious that these hospitals gear mainly towards overseas clients and the cost is amazingly cheap compared to the US. One guy needed Heart Bypass surgery and had no health insurance. He went to this hospital in Bangkok where it was like 75% less expensive and yet the care he received was amazing. The hospital was run by an American and most of the doctors had experience in American medicine whether practice or medical school.

Check CBS website for transcripts on the story. The story was aired the same week as the first Katrina story that 60 minutes did (interview with Nagin).

Good luck
