Why the HELL is Ashlee Simpson coming back to SNL?
Whatever happened to Lorne Michaels' "no lip-sync" clause? Did Budweiser muzzle him by threatening to pull their sponsorship unless Ashlee fucking Simpson steps back on stage? Has Lorne become another corporate shilling whore? What the HELL has happened to SNL?

Isn't there an online petition or something we can sign to keep Ashlee (and Jessica, for that matter) from stepping on the SNL stage again?

My suggestion: Bring back FEAR instead?

There's so many of us
There's so many of us
There's so many
There's so many of us

Let's have a war
So you can go die
Let's have a war
We can all use the money
Let's have a war
We need the space
Let's have a war
And blow up this place

FEAR's concert during the Dick Ebersol years was one of the greatest moments ever in SNL history. Instead, now we get treated to a no-talent lip-syncing coattail-rider. Nice.

2. What I posted about this in a thread last night:
Did you see who is on next week?

The lip syncing "I only got this act because society is shallow enough to make my slightly-more-talented older sister into a celebrity, then accept that all of her family members must be 'special' as well" Ashlee Simpson.

Yeah, and then they wonder why we're cynical about our society these days. Hmm... 'these days'. I'm barely into my 20s and already saying that. Uh-oh.

5. I saw that - well said
And they didn't even bother to update the intro, either. Running out of funds, perhaps?

4. D'oh!
"They started playing the wrong song!"

That's right, Ashlee - blame the musicians for your own fuckups...

6. Do over. I saw a newspaper article a few weeks ago where she
said her people begged to get her back on the show. She wants to "prove" she can actually sing.

...I hope they break out of it soon.

10. That poor girl
She's as homely as a fence post, lacks any talent at all, and seems to have been her father's sad little creation.

Another reason not to watch SNL, which has blown chunks for years now.

11. Well, at least Jean Doumanian isn't at the helm...
The only good things she did on SNL were:

(1) Give Eddie Murphy his first big break, although reluctantly.
(2) Book some musical acts, including Prince, who went on to make it big.

Other than that, I hear Doumanian blew chunks hyena-style.

13. I really don't care for her and I don't think think she has any talent,
but you should not call her homely. She is very attractive.

because that's what I think she is.

22. To each his own, then
Most people can have something bad said about the way they look. I think Ashlee's above average.

15. Well, I agree with you
She's prettier and more personable than her sister IMO. Still, I don't think Ashlee has much more talent. Her music is just a kind I can tolerate a little more than Jessica's. I'm not crazy about either, though. She'll need a good SNL performance and upcoming CD, and I don't think her song "Boyfriend" is very promising.

20. I have a girl and Junior High, and one in High School and both of them
...cannot tolerate Ashley. Nor can they sit through SNL in its current incarnation.

We rip on Ashley so much, my husband has taken to "defending" her, making for a lot of hilarity around here.

Every time we see her, we say, "Why is she still HERE"?

She has no shame, and neither does her father. (Not to mention her self-exploiting sister.)

24. snl=irrelevant--Bring on adult swim, the daily show, and david cross
no one talks about what they saw on snl. at least 5 years? the daily show draws bigger laughs on any given weeknight than snl does in it's less than 25 shows a year--and lorne and co. are supposed to be the pinnacle of comedy. these guys have a wekk and all summer to prepare, yet stewart's writers blow them out of the water evry time. and the animated work on cartoon network is the 'it' thing in comedy now. not horatio sanz flubbing his lines for the 1,000th time

it looks like some high school's talent show. tina fey as head writer has turned the show into nonstop mtv and reality show 'parodies', gay-baiting, and toilet humor

gone are the smart, edgy days of snl's satirists like franken and o'donahughe

the show hasn't been this bad in its history-not even the 94-95 season or the brat pack year.

fire lorne and tina and give the show to bob odenkirk to fix
