Hey, like I said on here a few days ago, I'm not at all surprised and I'm not going to promise this or say that I'm on the bandwagon (because I am a Cards fan) but I think the Brewers might be the second best team in the division next year and maybe the best, depending on who they add and the like.
The Cards have three starters that are free agents: Marquis, Morris and Suppan. And, Suppan's been the only truly relible one out of that bunch. They have one guy who might be ready for starting next year in Anthony Reyes and maybe another in Adam Wainright, but I doubt it on him. Larry Walker is on his last go around and Reggie Sanders probably is too. Rolen is injured and a labrum tear takes at least one year after surgery to start feeling better (trust me on that one). Grudzielanek is signed only for this season, as are a lot of the roleplayers. So, the Cards might only be returning Pujols, Eckstein, Rolen, Edmonds, Molina, Carpenter, Mulder and Isringhausen, which is a good base. . . but who's going to fill the positions? I think the Brewcrew will get the Wild Card next year, especially if Sheets can stay healthy.
