is this pick up line too corny to break the ice with a girl?
i'm just wondering cause i need to break the ice with a girl, and i simply cannot think of anything else good to say. the line is, "hey you wanna to help me find my cell phone, by calling it? I lost it somewhere at home, and i cannot find it. (if she agrees, then this is when i give her my number). Great, just call me tonight at 9."

too corny, too wordy, or is it brilliant?

please give me some insight, since this class begins a couple of hours. thanks!

3. If I were you I wouldn't do it.
Your plan or different variations of it is actually quite common and many women such as myself have caught on. How well do you know her? If she's in your class you could suggest exchanging numbers in case you need to discuss something relating to it. Or better yet just talk to her. You don't have to let her know just how interested you are but you could see if she wants to hang out on a casual basis and see how things go from there.

4. Caught on??
It's obvious from the way he's doing it that it is just a way to make her laugh That's why he says "at 9 PM." It's supposed to be cute and funny. It's an icebreaker to let her know he's interested!

5. I understand it's an ice breaker but
at best it she'll think it's just "cute and funny" and won't know he's interested. At worst it could come across wrong causing her to feel like she was mislead into giving her phone number away and to feel uncomfortable around him especially if she doesn't know him well. If he wants to let her know he's interested then I'm all for that but this isn't the best way.

6. a woman tried that on me once
believe it or not. And, since she was a cute Filipino woman with huge... tracts of land, it worked.

but, definitely say it with a smile on your face so she will know you are joking. And, don't get too worked up about your chances going in - just play it casual and fun and your chances of success will go up.

7. Don't say that. Seriously, it
would be better to just ask for her number and tell her you'd like to spend time with her just to get to know her a little better. That is a little corny, and if she is like me at all, she won't like any come on lines that guys tend to use. I just don't think they usually work. It is always better to just be honest and up front. JMO!

23. Amazing how well this works (it worked on me), but few guys use it.
I had quite the social life pre-marriage and my husband won me over with this message, nerves and all (in fact at the time he was quite the geek, really).

I found it immensely honest and quite charming.

I highly recommend this method, guys. It might not work on the flashiest women, but it works on those that are really worth getting to know.

Mr. BAL and I are looking down at ten years of a very satisfying marriage, thank you!

10. Yuck
subterfuge is NEVER a good way to break the ice with a lady. Why not just ask her to join you for coffee after class?

11. I'd do it for one reason.
If this is your kind of sense of humor, if she doesn't buy it, she ain't gonna buy into you later anyway. Then again, if she thinks it's hilarious, well, you've at least got something working for you.

12. Yeah, but a lot of women get hit on all of the time
with ridiculous come-ons and she might think this is just another one of those.

13. That's true.
You know though, I've come to learn that if a girl is into you, you could pretty much pour a bowl of soup in her lap and she'll laugh it off. And if she's not into you, you could make sure every step she takes is on rose petals and she'll still not like you.

So all said and done, it's usually best to just be yourself.

20. Don't know.

Personally though, I've never really felt comfortable being anything but myself. In a related story though, I've never been very good at picking up women...

14. Forget the one-size-fits-all pickup lines
You're as likely to make her roll her eyes in disgust as attract her.

Just have a conversation, as if she's a real person and not A Random Woman Whose Bones You Would Like to Jump, and if you get flirting, then and only then try the cell phone line, and if and only if you've determined that she has the sense of humor to react positively.

19. OMG! I have never heard that one.
One guy asked me if I wanted to try his magical three (I guess as in 3 inches). I was so disgusted, but at least he was honest and proud of what (little) he had.

21. Or else just trying to warn you about the width
At least that's a variation of the line I use sometimes.

Seriously, I've found that the best thing to do is just make eye contact and say 'hi'. Guess I'm just too straightforward.

22. LOL
That is pretty damn funny. I can't believe the things some guys will say.

But then again, I'm sure you wouldn't believe some of the things that I've seen actually work. It's pretty sad.

He might also have been referring to the "holy trinity". Ya know, the two things and the one thing.

24. I guess he could have meant a few different things, but
see I was left thinking something far worse than what he might have meant. Just goes to show those pick up lines don't work.

25. Hard to say.
It depends on what type personality, sense of humor she has and how you come across when you say it. Some women will find it cute. I would, and probably be flattered if it were from a guy I was really interested in. But come ons like that can also be risky since some women do not like that kind of thing at all and consider it deceptive no matter what and will just be annoyed. Do you know anyone that knows her really well? If you do I'd ask that person for their take on it. The safest thing though is to just be direct. If in any doubt, that is what I would suggest.
