So listen............
i had a plumbing problem this morning, a valve broke and my backyard was getting swampy, after much looking and puzzlin i traced it to a sprinkler valve, i took the valve apart, took the broken pieces to the plumbing supply store, bought the replacement parts and fixed the valve myself. my husband said to me "You don't even need me anymore!" Thats all, end of story.

1. So what you're saying is, you're available now?
:P

Good job on fixing the problem!

I bet a plumber would have had you replace a bunch of piping, a few valves, a couple sprinkler heads, some stuff inside the house, and all the tune of about $1500.

3. Sounds like one of my experiences
I had an old car that kept overheating and someone told me it needed a new water pump. I couldn't afford a mechanic so I went to the library and got a generic repair manual, picked up a water pump at the local parts store, propped the manual on the fender and replaced the darn thing.

The guys at the parts store all applauded me when I drove up in the car to bring in the used pump. It was pretty cool - they said I did a great job.

Girls are almost never exposed to simple repairs like boys are. While my brothers helped my dad tinker with cars or plumbing, it never occurred to anyone to teach my sisters and I any of that. So it's a nice victory when you find out you're capable of doing things.

Good job.
