I saw her on American Bandstand (way later, I think VH1 used to show them? Or something?) and she was telling Dick that she studied musicology (or something? BWAHAHAA! I'm on top of the facts!) and I was impressed.

60. No...he's kind of...hard to describe.
He is kind of hip hop, in that much of his music sounds sampled (I believe he creates most of it)--but there are strong country influences sometimes...he's a very eclectic guy.

This was a very bare bones performance for him.

Sorry I couldn't be more help, LOL. But he's not Stingish at all. He's very Lou Reedish in his delivery I think....but musically I can't think of anyone similar.

Temple of the Dog too...........as short-lived as it was.
Reminds me of Tantric also.

292. I remember that thread!
After tonight I think I'm falling back in love with Trent a little bit. Of course my heart really belongs to Shahrukh and Bono, but both of them have been married to their high school/teenage sweethearts for like, half their lives. .

And then there's Adrien Brody and Jamie Bell, but I think Trent still has a place in my celebrity harem. He seems so calm, or grounded or something, now--definitely absent from his demeanor the last time I saw him on tv.

Been watching it about the time you were born...it's been around for 30+ years.

I see I missed Skynrd with Kid Rock earlier, but will look for replay on MTV site.

The big let down of the night to me was Sir Paul. I know he's promoting a new album, but I would have prefered to have heard "Hey Jude" --something more uplifting and in tune with the theme of the show.

314. That's a fantastic song.
For some reason I always liked "Harvest."

"Did I see you down in a young girl's town
With your mother in so much pain.
I was almost there at the top of the stairs,
With her screaming in the rain.

Did she wake you up to tell you that
It was only a change of plan
Drink up, drink up, let me fill your cup
With the promise of a man..."

Geez, those words kind of fit the Katrina situation.

I have to go get the CD out now!

It's been great spending the evening with everybody! :toast:
