NFL Won't Yank West for Remarks About Bush

The National Football League, which has fiercely attempted to preserve its image of wholesomeness and probity, said Monday that it would not demand that Kanye West be removed from the league's season-opening show on Thursday. West had ignited controversy during a benefit for Katrina survivors Friday night when he remarked that "George Bush doesn't care about black people." But NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told the Los Angeles Times, "Like many Americans during this emotional time" West had "expressed an unscripted opinion." He said that the performers had been selected "for their entertainment value, not their political views."

++++++++++++++

YOu know, the tides really are turning in our favor. I think even a year ago if Kayne West had made that comment about Bush he would have not only been banned from the NFL but probably pulled from every radio station playlist and record store. THe fact that the NFL is still allowing West on their program shows that what West said really hit home with how people perceive Bush and his administration.

Congrats Kayne - you have a new fan in Delaware!!

1. If you have the time and can bare it
check out the reaction to Kanye West over in Freeperland. I was in the mood for a good laugh yesterday and decided to look around for some comments. They were even more hysterical than usualt when a musician or other entertainment figure speaks out against Bush.

2. They're saying "Fuck You" to Bush and the rest of Republicans.
Remember back when any entertainer who *dared* criticize Bush in any way got banned everywhere? Dixie Chicks, anyone?

Now, doing it makes you MORE popular. Expect more people to come out like he did.
