Meet New Orleans' new mascot: Mr. Bill!

Did you know Mr. Bill is a New Orleanian? It's true! His creator is none other than Vance DeGeneres, who gets lots of really cool Christmas presents from his sister Ellen, who is in L.A. these days doing some sort of TV program. :-) Both are from Metairie which is right next to N.O.

And think about how much crap Mr. Bill took from mean old Sluggo every week! Bowling balls. Toy steamrollers. Oh noooooooooooo!

Yet -- and this is the key -- Mr. Bill always came back for more the very next week. That, and not the brightly colored clay, is what makes Mr. Bill a true-blue (and yellow and red :-) New Orleanian.

Then I remembered his N.O. origins. Apparently the actual creator is Walter Williams, not Ellen DeGeneres' brother Vance.
