Interesting tidbit. The SS Camille gift shop survived
Just heard a video on WLOX web site. They say all the homes and businesses just west of 49 were obliterated (I have so many memories of that Pizza Hut), but the SS Camille is still standing.

For those who don't know, the SS Camille was a ship (either a shrimp boat or a tug boat) washed over the highway during Camille. Someone propped it up, painted it, and turned in into a gift shop. Now it's the only thing standing in that area. I wonder if the fact that it's a boat saved it. Maybe because of the shape? Maybe they should build houses like boats.
