What have you done lately
Edited on Mon Nov-10-03 10:22 PM by GURUving
that makes you feel good about yourself?

I'm taking a client to the hospital at 6:45 in the morning for surgery that she might not recover from. She has a thousand different problems, the most important being her heart.

I am taking her for this because her doctor says it needs to be done.

I am fearful that she won't make it.

She's not worried at all.

Odd.

1. I Got A Computer
For another DUer. Hers went down, she's in school and needed one for her class assignments and didn't have much left over paying rent and taking care of her elderly father.

3. I am caregiver to my 91-year-old mother.
I also have a full-time job, and we have a woman who comes during the day. Yes, I have one sister, but she is not much help.

4. My life is service
Edited on Mon Nov-10-03 10:42 PM by populistmom
I have 4 young children.
I go on DU at night as my little escape because I need to talk about other stuff. Very little outlets in my life at this point to talk about politics, social issues, and the other stuff I talk about here.
90% of my life is about taking care of someone else's needs.

I suppose I could also add I have worked with Habitat for Humanity, donated blood, and did tons of various volunteer work with children over the past few years.

6. Volunteering in a Head Start classroom
Unfortunately since I'm recovering from surgery I have to put that on hold (I'm up and around, but my arm movements are restricted). It felt like the most selfish volunteering ever - just to get to know all those 4 and 5 year olds was the best thing to happen to me in a long time.

I wish you and your client well. What a difficult situation. I hope she makes it, and admire her attitude.
