When Greekspeak and I moved from Springfield to here in Tallahassee, we had a whole group of people come over on moving day to help pack and load the truck! I don't know what we would have done without everyone's help! We didn't throw anything away, we gave it to the folks helping us...that is...if they wanted it. Packing SUCKS!:nuke:
I am in the process of moving and the part of the state where I have been living has so much new construction that anything "used" is not selling. My next door neighbor works for a real estate attorney and according to her 8 out of every 10 closings handled by her law firm are for new construction. It looks like I will be making two mortgage payments for a while. x(
I also hate packing. When we moved halfway across the country, we had movers to do most of the packing, but I still had to do a fair amount of packing myself (things I didn't want the movers handling).
Usually something irreplacable. I've moved so many times, I've lost count (I started listing them one day and gave up when I got to 30) - just about every time, something has vanished. I can be so careful but things get lost. I had a beautiful photo of my mom when she was a baby - she was sitting in a field and it was a one of a kind studio shot. She was maybe 18 months old so it would be in the 1920's - lost it somehow. That one breaks my heart - along with my oldest child's original birth certificate - the one with the little footprints on it.
