What are your favorite gemstones?
Of course I love diamonds. I also love jade. I have an apple green jade heart necklace that I always wear (no reason; I just like it), and I also wear a jade bangle on my left wrist which won't come off.

Other favorites include peridot (my birthstone), sapphires, aquamarines and amethyst.

1. Put me down for amethyst.
Once in awhile a topaz is nice.

4. You have access to twenty zillion flavors
and you love vanilla?

The diamond trade is totally artificially inflated involves slave and child labor and there are more diamonds on the planet than many of the colored precious stones combined. It's the deBeers cartel who monopolized the market and inflated their value a thousand fold. Esoterically they are seen as random intensifiers that make most unconscious women greedy.

My absolute fave are alexandrites. Nature's ultimate mood ring. The good ones are forest green by day light, purple at twilight, and red by firelight. Used to start at 8 grand a carat. Dunno what they go for now.

Also like tsavarites, tanzanites, star stapphires (the real ones) and a boat load of others.

6. Sometimes the plainest are the most beautiful!
I do agree with the alexandrite. I own one and it is beautiful. It changes color depending on the lighting. My is 100% real. A lot of them are synthetic, but those still are just as gorgeous.

8. Well, I admit to having been brainwashed by the DeBeers people...
So, yes, I do love diamonds...but my husband does NOT....the ones I have are from his mom...

I treasure them as part of her memory...I was her only dil, and my girls were her only grandchildren...we all miss her a lot, still...

I also love my birthstone, the topaz..it comes in many colors other than the gold you normally see...

Also making my list are boulder opals, aquamarines, and sapphires...

:hi:

9. Do I detect a birthday nearby?
:) My birthstone is also peridot, and I used to absolutely loathe it. I was so jealous as a kid that my sisters got garnet and amethyst, and I was stuck with peridot, but lately I am really starting to like it. It looks like nothing else, and that is what a Leo likes. :D

13. Yes, you do! For those who are keeping track at home, it's the 27th!
For law school graduation my husband gave me a gorgeous peridot set: ring, earrings, necklace and bracelet. We also bought a loose peridot stone in Brazil, and his brother in Pakistan made me a beautiful ring. Here it is:

11. LAPIS LAZULI
It was the stone in the college ring I bought for my fiancé, and that's when I fell in love with it.

The only jewelry I wear now is three earrings and the box chain bracelet my sisters sent me for my 40th birthday. None of these ever come off. If I ever get any lapis, it will probably never come off.

14. Diamonds, sapphires, and rubies.
I also like alexandrite, but I don't own any genuine alexandrite. And I have a nice amethyst ring, but prefer other gemstones.

16. I love diamonds too. They catch and refract light in such
amazing ways. Sometimes when I am driving I will see all these little star like lights reflecting on the dashboard and it is sunlight refracting through the stones in my rings.

Mine are all keepsakes of much beloved relatives. Not huge but all pretty.

I like tanzanite and iolite for unique and beautiful color,

Sapphires are sometimes just too dark but sometimes they are very pretty.

Opals are my birthstone and I love them too.

Frankly I wouldn't turn my nose up at anything if it is cut well and in a neat mounting. I don't much like lab created emeralds rubies or sapphires they really look fakey.

I own an amethyst ring, three diamond rings, an opal ring, 3 pr of opal earrings, and my husband just bought me a silver bracelet with amber in it but I haven't seen it yet. Can't wait.
