ipod users; a few questions
ok, ive decided on getting an ipod, and i wanna know what you users have to say about it...im looking at the ipod mini. i have no use for the ammount of songs the larger version carry. im just wondering is the extra 500 songs in the 6gb ipod of any concequence or do you think that the 1000 songs on the lower version is more than enough?

this or any other input is apprecieated.

2. I have a 40GB iPod
and I completely adore it. As for song storage, it really depends on what you want to put on it. If you're thinking about downloading big things, such as books on "tape," you're going to need to go bigger.

That said, I have over 1600 songs and 2 LARGE books (Clinton's My Life and A People's History of the US) on my iPod and that's only 7.7 GB.

3. I have the 4 gig mini...
and I would go for the larger. However, I have about 60 gigs of music to choose from on my desktop. Also, I find that it's super-easy to take stuff off and put stuff on. I rarely keep the same 1000 songs for very long.

4. I bought a 10; it was replaced with a 15.
When I'm not using it for music and audiobooks, I have a spare hard drive always with me. I'm holding off replacing the 15 until Apple comes out with a 100 GB.

Several acquaintances and work friends have bought minis, then turned around and bought a full sized ipod a few weeks later and ebayed the mini or made it a present to someone. Everybody says, "I won't need that much space" and then they do. Trust me on this one.

You think you won't have any interest in it for the larger storage space, but if you find you like audiobooks (which you can borrow on CD from most libraries and put on your iPod) (and they're great for driving or exercising) you will fill the thing fast.

5. Famous last words..."I won't need that much space"
How many have said that about a computer? I always advocate buying more, but what you can afford, than what you think you need at the moment. Once you get into downloading music to your iPod, you will see your friends' CD collection as something to be culled.

6. I have a Mini (green)
I love it. I have about 860 songs on it, and it's supposed to hold about 140 more (of course, depending on file size). If you own scads of CDs and want to put your entire collection on it, you might want a bigger one; but I find that my Mini is more than sufficient.

7. Unless you're going to rip your entire CD collection into iTunes...

(and you want to keep them all on you at all times (and you have a lot of CDs)) then the mini will be sufficient. Even the 20GB would be fine. :hi:

Congrats on getting an iPod! Best MP3 player on the market I tell ya what.

8. Size does matter
Go for the larger version. You can use it for than just songs - notes, address book, calender appointments, games. Additional (small) drive. You'll probably find that 40 gigs is not enough.

Khash.
