But I think I'm going to take myself to see the penguin movie this afternoon then go get ice cream. I'm hoping that'll perk me up.

3. Better.
Edited on Sun Jul-31-05 11:58 AM by SarahBelle
Dignosed with a kidney infection Thursday and came pretty close to ending up in the hospital. I'm still a little more tired then usual, but I've been resting a lot. 6 more days of antibiotics, no work until Wednesday, and thankfully, now off the Vicodin for pain (I hate feeling sloshy).

48. Mine is, as well. My schedule is totally off...
I have been plagued by insomnia, but finally crashed at 11:30pm, last night, way early for me, and woke up at 6:30am! I am not even sure what day it is!

As for my guys, they're doing fine, thanks! They had a vet appt. last week and my Sara's chronic ear problem seems to have cleared up and my little guy only needed inoculations, but is still on a diuretic, not fun, especially since he wet all over my bed yesterday, but he's great as long as he gets outside regularly. Crap! I was just told that Sara wet on the couch! It's always something! *sigh*

54. My kitty has a thyroid tumor
I have to give her meds to regulate her thyroid to see if there is heart or kidney problems. If so, it looks like her time has come..if not, then it is $900 to treat it and there is only one vet in So Cal that does the procedure (which is the same for humans :radionueclide ablation)

57. OMG! I am so sorry! Yikes!
What meds are you giving her? Both of my dogs (and me) are on medication for hypothyroidism. But it isn't serious and seems to be working. Have you explored alternative treatments? My vet offers both traditional and alternative. My rescued kitty had a slightly enlarged heart and, since she was so difficult to medicate, he had me put a few drops of liquid hawthorne extract in her water everyday. And it appeared to do the trick. If you could give me more specifics, I could run this by him, if you'd like. He's a fellow liberal and has previously provided cat advice when I've told him about posts on DU.

Also, my friend lives in L.A. When I found out that his beloved cat wasn't doing well, I called him, to sympathize, and suggested alternative medicine if he'd exhausted the other possibilities. Turns out he'd already tried it, found a great practitioner. I could find out more from him, if you'd like.

I'm so sorry, but I sure can sympathize, with the fear and with the expense. When I first brought my rescued cat into this great vet, he really checked everything, unlike the place that I'd previously taken her. It cost me $647 for my first visit, and this was with a 15% discount and even before her surgery! But, the way I figure it, I took the responsibility, so owe my guys the best. Good luck with this and let me know of I can help.

Rhiannon:hug:

31. I'm feeling very happy.
Edited on Sun Jul-31-05 12:39 PM by stellanoir
You see, my folks have a blueberry farm and I help them out. This year the little kids that have picked blueberries for the last several years have moved on to more lucrative (though undoubtedly less fruitful-ugh I know) employment so I'm sort of obliged to pick blueberries for a couple hours a day.

Now the field is really beautiful and has great vibes but in order to keep the birds away from the berries my folks have put up all sorts of balloons, tinsel streamers, fake owls, and the most god awful squawker (a recording of a bird in serious distress) which is really unsettling to me. I keep wondering what someone did to that bird to make it sound like that and have visions of an ornithological Gitmo dancing through my wee little head. Or I'm such an empath that I keep wondering. . ."Isn't someone going to help that poor bird?" So I go into the field armed with a radio.

Two of the stations I listen to normally were playing a church service and an investment program so I was being especially annoyed by the squawcker when I heard all this raucous laughter emanating from the South end of the field. I got curious.

So I ambled down the field grabbing blueberries along the way as I approached them. Then I noticed that one of them looked familiar and I remembered that he was the funniest person that I waited on last summer and I said, "Hey you're not allowed to have fun in the blueberry field. This is serious business and don't you know that somewhere in the world a bird is suffering terrible pain right this minute?"

A hilarious conversation ensued and I made three brand new friends and they're going to hire me to read at their house warming party very soon which will unquestionably be a total blast.

These people are just so much fun, really witty, and very well informed.

So even though I was disappointed by the actions or inactions of two others this weekend, my world just got a little wider, and I couldn't even hear the stupid squawker over all the hilarity and wonderfully interesting bantor.

53. Delightful. I locked the keys in a 1974 Dodge Dart in Anaheim, CA
in 1987 or thereabouts. I got the car open by pulling some chrome molding off the rear window of the car and using that to jimmy the lock.

That was a fun trip, even though the trunk lock kept breaking and we had to pour power steering fluid into the car at every rest area.

Anyway, come north and I'll buy you some wings and beer too.

61. Important follow-up.
I did get all motivated and shit to go mow the fucking weeds finally, and now the neighborhood cats are all disoriented and shit because of the eliminated plushness and shit of the backyard in which they fucking hid themselves and shit. So they are all fucking bugged and shit now, those two big grey cats and the black three-legged one.

And I did go get some fucking chicken wings at Fire on the Mountain, because when I had finished the lawn I wiki'd "chicken wings" and announced my excitement at having found the standard hot sauce recipe, and now i can make vats of the fucking shit and just fuckin' drink the fuckin' shit all day long, and H looked up from the fucking paper and shit and said, "did someone mention chicken wings?" and I said, "yeah, you wanna go get some?"

I had a couple of pints of Terminal Gravity IPA with my wings, and fuckin' shit.

Time for a nap, but first I should call my parents.
