Happy Birthday Mike Bloomfield
1944 He died on Feb. 15, 1981, in San Francisco of an accidental drug overdose.
He accidentally did too much heroin? Great guitarist he was.

2. The late rock impresario Bill Graham claimed "East-West"...
...was his favorite song. He used to do "guest DJ" weekend spots on San Francisco's KSAN. He played the Butterfield track often and was a definite Bloomfield fan.

3. Mike Bloomfield is one of the all time greatest rock-blues guitar players
I am consistently blown away everytime I listen to the early Butterfield band's stuff because he is just off the hook.

Bloomfield could give any rock guitarist a run for their money. I don't think there is a better player

I think he died of a valium overdose rather than a heroin one, even though he was a junkie
