COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — ...Inmate Jerry Graham of Cincinnati died on Jan. 14 at the Ohio State University Medical Center after a 40-minute delay in summoning an ambulance to the prison near Orient.

The Graham, 59, was just three days away from being freed on parole after serving 20 years on assault, rape, drug and weapons convictions.

Sowers called the prison's control center to request an ambulance. But, when no one answered, he called the captain's office to report Graham was unresponsive.

Prison officials claim Sowers didn't report that he had failed to reach the control center to request an ambulance. Sowers said he made it clear to the captain's office that he was requesting an ambulance....
