5. It wouldn't be a bad TV show if the music wasn't so godawful horrible
Instead of dancing the Rumba to rumba music or the salsa to salsa music, tango to tango music, etc instead they found the worst pop songs from history and made the worst easily listening version of those songs and they danced to that.

It was excruciatingly horrible!!!

7. No, it wasn't even close...
...at least with Dance Fever they danced to the music made for you to dance to - not crap shit versions of songs that aren't even of the genre of music you're dancing to

12. I agree...
especially about the tango. I couldn't even recognize the proper count for the songs they selected, so I couldn't imagine how the competitors were able to stay 'on time'.

10. I thought it was a lot of fun!
Seriously! I absolutely LOVE Ballroom Dancing, and participated in it for many, many years... I thought the costumes were kinda cheesy, especially when you've seen some of the actual competitive costumes, and know how gorgeous they can be. But the dancing was fun, and the competitors had a lot of 'pluck' to try something so far removed from their normal lives, in such a short period of time. I hope they bring it back!

16. Yep, it sure did...
If one if serious about competitive Ballroom Dancing, the song must be strict tempo. None of the music selected was strict tempo. I often wondered how on earth the competitors were able to keep their routines on time, when the songs were all over the place, tempo-wise. I kinda already know the answer to that question, as you could see each of the teachers leading/back-leading the student through the routine to keep them on time. They used a live band for the music, and while I know its possible for them to play strict tempo, they just didn't do it, throughout the whole series. They use a live orchestra for the world's biggest Ballroom Competition in England, Blackpool, so maybe they were trying to capture some of the 'allure' of that competition. (failed). I can't think of any other well-known competition that uses 'live' music. All of them use pre-recorded songs, and come off much better, IMHO.

When Rachel Hunter did her tango, I literally couldn't recognize the correct tempo from the song they selected for her! That wasn't the only time that blew me away either, just the first instance that comes to mind...
