Lawyer Sings "I Shot The Sheriff" At Cop-Killing Trial
<snip>

MONTREAL (Reuters) - The lawyer for a man convicted of shooting and killing a policeman apologized on Monday for singing the Bob Marley hit "I Shot The Sheriff" as he was leaving the courtroom.

Despite the apology, the Quebec Law Society has opened an disciplinary investigation against defense lawyer Christian Gauthier, while the Montreal police union is planning to make a formal complaint.

"I'm sincerely sorry to know today that family members (of the victim) and policemen heard me," Gauthier told Radio-Canada television.

"If I hurt them, if I added to their plight, I'm sincerely sorry. I didn't think about it, and if I had, I wouldn't have sang," he said.

1. What an ASS!
And not the good kind either.

Jeeez...first off, you shouldn't be singing ANYTHING, seeing as how your client was convicted, but singing THAT song after your client was convicted of killing a cop?!?!? Are you stupid? *forehead slap*

3. What is that term ...
Earworm. Perhaps the guy heard the song on the radio on the way in. Perhaps he didn't realize he was singing it ... aloud. Don't you ever catch yourself singing a song (that is stuck in your head) outloud that would normaly embarrass you if someone heard you.

Granted, if the "reason" he sang this song at that time was because his client was convicted of murdering a cop, then I agree that he is a dick.

It could have been a completely innocent misunderstanding.

Cheers
Drifter

It is a good song though.

2. He must be a conservitive.
Notice that he's not sorry for what he DID, he's just sorry that somebody CAUGHT him.

4. I'm surprised he got out of the courtroom alive.
