We have seasons. Four of them to be specific. The summer is hot and the winter is cold.

Fall foliage

We get hurricanes in the winter time.

Seafood= Lobster, crab, scallops and all kinds of fish are native to this area

The most influential of the 13 colonies.

Adequately pissed off every day.

NE Liberals

There are many other reasons, but this settles it. The NE rules. Where you come from sucks.

Apparently, we have a gift for building houses that can withstand extreme weather.

Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 01:18 PM by 1monster
are still being used today, albeit not for the original purpose. For example, Castillo de San Marcos and the Matanzas River Fort. And then there are several houses that are the same age or almost as old.

I guess there are other parts of the world that can build to withstand extreme weather too, including hurricanes.

I was at Ft. Meade in the early 1990's, so you couldn't have known me. I guess my fellow DU Air Force vets just stick in my mind because we have common experiences. Congrats on the start of your new civilian life! Take advantage of your educational benefits. I got through college on the cheap thanks to the GI bill and a VA educational grant. I actually went on from there to earn a doctorate. The skills and benefits you've earned from your service to your country will serve you well. Take full advantage of them!

9. California will kick your sissy asses
We have seasons. Two of them to be specific. The summer is hot and the winter is cool and rainy.

We have no fall foliage, so we spend the time y'all spend raking thinking about better ways to kick your asses.

We get mellow, gentle rain storms in the winter frequently punctuated by cool, breezy, sunny days that are BEAUTIFUL beyond anything that it's in your stunted, northeast capacity to experience.

Seafood= Salmon, crab, trout, tuna, and all kinds of rockfish are found here. Did I mention the salmon?

We have many, many sports teams, one or more of which usually makes it to the finals in football, baseball, or basketball.

Gas stations open all night.

Bars open until 2. Smoke free, too. You can pickle your liver without killing your lungs.

Hard liquor sold at 7/11.

You can get through school without having to learn about shit like the thirteen colonies. Isn't that bad luck, to found a nation with 13 colonies?

Adequately pissed off every day... and with the meth and assault weapons to follow through on our anger!

California Liberals... Bolinas, Arcata, Berkeley... also we have better weed than you do!

*I don't give a shit about sports teams

*fall foliage, you're missin' out bud..it's beautiful, and people come from all over the country to see it, and dump money into our economy for it.

*LOW CRIME

10. Your summers are NOT hot. Warm - sometimes, but never hot.
You rarely get hurricanes, and those are almost never above a category one. Whatever you may be talking about, (probably Northeasters) it is NOT a genuine hurricane. For an idea about them, please look at Dennis in the Gulf now. I once lived in Biloxi, MS and have been through several REAL hurricanes.

I have been up there for your winters and can do without them. I have seen FROST up there in early September. According to the calendar that is supposed to still be summer. And I have seen snow in May - supposedly spring. You have winter, and a kind of thaw in the middle of the year.

Your fall foliage is really nice. It is worth a vacation trip to see it.

We have 24/7 gas and all night convenience stores that sell beer.

Maine seafood is good. Lump that in with the fall foliage for a vacation.

Things I would miss:

Rodeos

Wide open spaces

Cheaper gas

Less restrictive firearms and self-defense laws.

Generally less meddlesome local gov't.

They're the opposite of yours, since the winters are glorious and the summers are hot, not much hotter than yours, but it's our "off season" since the winters are so awesome. Also, there are thunderstorms every afternoon in the summer. There a fall and spring too, you just have to be attuned to the changes.

And seafood???? Where can you get better fresher seafood than Florida???

We have seasons in Texas, too, they're just all called Summer.

We have Tex-Mex food, you don't.

Bars are open until 2am or later here.

Beer is sold at every convenience store on every corner.

Gas stations are 24/7/365 here.

Whole Foods started here.

We have EXCELLENT coastline with fantastic seafood.

Spurs, baby, Spurs.

Dubya was born in the NE, from a family of stuck-up NE old-money blowhards.

You DO have some great beer up there, though. If I haven't pissed you off too badly, maybe you could hook me up with some of the Brooklyn Brewery's most excellent brews!

You guys can't help it if you feel the need to lash out at other states because of your inferiority complex. Hell, man, Delaware would just be another Houston suburb if it were down here. You could fit all of New England into the borders of Texas and still have room for Detroit.

You need to get on down here to Lockhart, The Barbecue Capital of Texas, and we'll show you how it's REALLY done. I'll set you up with a big ol' plate of ribs and sausage, washed down with a cold Tecate or Big Red....YUMMMMMMMM!

Tex-Mex is indeed it's own distinct style of cuisine, very different from Mexican food. I applaud your ability to distinguish between the styles.

Seafood here is also distinctly different thatn what you'll find in other regions. We like a lot of shrimp and lobster, scallops and fish...fried usually, but not always. When we lived closer to the coast, it was not unusual to head on down and buy shrimp right off of the boats when they came in. Good stuff.

the bars are open past midnight, the gas stations are open past 9 p.m., and you can buy beer at 7-11.

We have fall foliage, some years better than New England's, and we have four seasons, though the winters aren't as cold as they were in the past -- bet yours aren't, either. We rarely have to shovel snow or deal with slush.

We get seafood off the Southern Atlantic coast AND the Gulf coast, plus we can get crawdads! I don't think you catch shrimp in the NE and I LOVE shrimp, don't like lobster. Bet you can't get catfish and hushpuppies, either.

Good thing we're both happy where we are. :7

This is Norfolk way, Y'all. Lot different here then NorVa.

We have 4 seasons: Hot Hot Hot muggy summers, warm Fall, Cool Fall, then a warm spring. One time we actually had to look at this white stuff falling from the sky. We southerners knew just what we had to do as we aimed our cars for the nearest telephone pole or tree.

Southern Pine biotches! Who needs a rake:P

Hurricanes create great light shows as the transformers blow up and make the sky indigo green for a few seconds.

Seafood - Oysters, The best damn crabs, Flounder, Bass that actually fight back against the pole, and other sea fish.

Yeh, go .... Huh, working on that.

Gas stations open all night.

Bars open till 2am. Beer from the grocery stores.

60. Well, This is Maryland and.......
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 07:11 PM by new_beawr
I've lived in Boston and the Hudson Valley. I was happy in each place.

We in Maryland have the same four seasons, but the snow that falls in November isn't still on the fucking ground in March.... The Summers are nasty, I way prefer New England Summers. But I've gone through 30 days in winter with the temps never going over 20 - and that blows.

We have Foliage too, not as spectacular as Vermont, or a Hudson Valley Hillside, but still, pretty rocking.

Seafood - We have the same as you, although we have cheaper Crab and you have cheaper Lobster.

Baseball??? - Well the Nationals are doing well these days and, if you're old enough, you can remember when the Orioles riuled...

Football??? - The Patriots have now won as many Super Bowls as the Redskins. But we still have the Ravens and memories of the Colts...

College Sports - We have the ACC. You have UConn and that great pass from Doug Flutie.

24 Hour Gas Stations

7/11s everywhere, not all sell beer though

Bars close at 3:00 on Weekends

I would say that Virginia was the most influential of the original thirteen colonies.

We're pretty pissed off ourselves, but your accents make you sound angrier.

I'm pretty sure the Boston area has some of the best hospitals in the country.

71. i come from the ne, but now i am in the sw, because...
...i hated the hot summers and cold winters. if it's 90, it's a heat wave, but nights are always below 50. if it's 0, it's a cold spell, but the days are always at least 20.

there are four seasons in nm.

it's never cloudy for more than a day, but usually only for a few hours.

it doesn't get dark until 5 in winter, and that is only for a few days, then the days get longer really fast.

the county i live in has 10,000+ dems, 3,000+ repubs.

bars open past midnight.

beer sold at gas stations (what sense does that make?! don't drink and drive!)

nobody here is pissed off every day. i personally don't see the purpose of that.

i think ne sucks. that's why i left.

;)
